I am an ok cyclist.I have never raced before and would like to give it a GO! age 33 ,which catagory do I try? thanks

There's only one race open to cat 5s. Go do that one. Then you can really be racin jasin.

Couldn't he race Masters 30+? but Masters 30+ is a bunch of old cat 1s and 2s so you would get spit out the back pretty quick.

In most districts a 5 who is also a master can race masters or 5s. Or 4s, or whatever cat you are. You can always race in a younger age category, except for juniors of course.

But you'd be a fool to race in an open masters category as a 5, unless it's a hillclimb, and even then you'd place better in the 5s.

Around here Masters races are only open to Cat 1-4

I hope you have some experience riding in fast, tight groups, such as weekend club/shop rides
