jose maria jimenez-maybe my favorite climber of all time; the guy could crush it when he was on
which was admittedly infrequently. wish i had the dvd of the vuelta (2001?) when he won several
mountaintop finishes. unfortunately, he was as fragile mentally as he was spectacular physically.
r.i.p. indeed...

Cadel Evans.
Can't seem to get out of his own way, makes enemies wherever he goes. He seemed to have enough raw talent to win the Tour, though.

I like Bobby but I think he lucked into his '98 Tour place but was pretty much himself everywhere else.

Cunego - thought he was going to be the next great GT rider. Now he's just a slightly above average GT rider.
And not truly a GT rider but I had big big hopes for Pineau. So far he hasn't quite lived up to my expectations.

zulle had a couple of second places to indurain and lance in the tour de france.
not much shame there. he really shone in the vuelta winning it twice with a
second there too. didn't suck as a time trialist. seem to remember him doing
top 5 in the giro too. kinda lost out to rominger, indurain, bugno, armstrong,
pantani & ullrich during his career. not exactly the little sisters of the poor.
zulle was generally not as strong as those others with the exception of rominger
who got similar results.

Sylvain Chavanel.. Long time ago, Bought his Bonjour jersey as s booster of the Mimosa rider.. Have to agree with CatV.. Long time ago many Americans had hopes Bobby might one day stand in Paris wearing Yellow.
