Rogers lost 13mins....disappointing, even if i was only one of the few who thought he might contend for the podium.

Another quality pick for my fantasy Le tour team besides my other pick of another GC guy with Rabobank

I feel like I'm racing the TTT with 4 guys at this point

I saw today where LA was something like 9 minutes down after stage 6 in '03 (not sure if that was the yr.). Still too soon to say about Menchov IMO.

to me, one impressive point is that Cav is still in the green jersey by one point... because he picked up 10pts out of 16th place... if he had crossed the line one wheel later he'd have lost the green jersey.
Never, never give up, eh?

apples and oranges mitchell. I'd be surprised if menchov rides into paris at this point, he's cooked, his tdf was over after day 1, he might as well look toward the vuelta.

It's not just how much time you've lost, it's who you've lost that time to.

Exactly. This is why this has been such a great first week...the main contenders have had to pay attention and race hard..the next two days are going to very very interesting.

BTW I wonder if Cav still thinks the rest of these guys are Jr racers....I saw his boys yelling for someone else to pull..rather cat 4 of them I think ...as bummed for Millar as I was Thors win made up for it...

I believe one of the announcers mentioned it was the radar to tell exactly when they crossed the finish line for the race organizers.

hard to separate the effects of a slumping economy versus phones when comparing LY sales. most phones don't have the juice in the their GPS antennas to compete turn by turn, especially in a tight city environments, where even SIRF III antennas get be thrown off.

Our jerseys are actually made from our speedsuit material, so they look like we are wearing speedsuits. And on the helmet, Radio12:12 PM Jul 8th from mobile web

The yellow thing on his helmet is his radio. The yellow thing hanging on the chain stay is a transponder to let the organizers know when they cross the line.

Not quite. He was about 6 minutes down after stage 6 in 2000, but not a single one of the riders in front of him was a GC contender. Who's in front of Menchov? Let's see, the Schlecks, Sastre, Martin, Contador, Cancellara (putting him in for Stephen Roche)... and one Lance Armstrong. Comparison fail. Menchov is done.

ETA: Lance was in maybe 11th on GC after that stage. Menchov is a good deal further back than that.

I'm wondering if we will see Lance in yellow after tomorrow? That would be my hope. The DVR will tell me in a few hours....

It is interesting to note however that "the 33" is usually so nice and peaceful until all the non-racers come in to comment about "le tour".
exactly.

Being down 10 minutes to someone like Voeckler is night and day to being down 13 minutes to Armstrong and Contador.

Your ignorance is showing.

Sure. Whatever. Feel better now?

You experts write of the Giro winner because he's 5 minutes down after 6 stages and you call me ignorant. Do some research and tell me that no one other than LA has won the tour after being down 5 minutes after stage 6 and then you might be on to something.

No, because I'm trying to teach you something about stage racing and you're either not listening or not able to process what I'm saying.

You are supposing two situations as comparable:

1) Lance Armstrong down 5:24 to Voeckler during the 2004 Tour de France. Yes, Lance came back to win that year (by one of his largest margins) but Voeckler was allowed to develop a 5 minute advantage because he was not a viable grand tour contender. Lance would never have allowed Ullrich, Basso or any other legitimate GC threat gain that much time.

2) Dennis Menchov down 4:36 to the Armstrong, Contador, Wiggins, Vande Velde, Schleck. These are all legitimate GC threats who can climb and time trial as well, if not better, than Menchov. They are top GC contenders who will not let Menchov close the over 4-minute gap.
