Forgive me for the blog instead of pics... I don't feel like posting all of the pictures again without having to shrink them. It's a rest day at Le Tour, I'm excused, no?

I was rooting for the guy in red/black, he almost made it thru. How many times did the guy in the gutter get hit by other riders?

It doesn't look like the guy in red held his line and caused the guy next to him to crash.

Man, that is painful to look at. I was signed up to do that race and the 4 race later in the day. I bailed on them both due to exhaustion and stayed home. I know both of those teammates, but no one has posted anything to the ABRT listerserve to say how they are doing. Unfortunately, for our team, another guy on the team, a former Rite Aid pro, was struck by a car on Saturday while training with 3 other teammates and sent to Shock/Trauma. He's banged up good, but OK. All these incidents only add insult to injury to our team, as the husband of one of our Elite Womens team members was struck too and suffered 2 collapsed lungs.

If I find anything out about the 2 guys in the Dawg Days race, I'll let you all know.

It's not been a good week for ABRT team guys and injuries. On the other hand, we did win a couple of races.

I'd be most concerned about the guy who hit the curb.

For whatever reason, it looks like the guy third from the left just loses it. Perhaps jumping on it out of the corner lost control somehow, and moves over into the 4th guy initiatiing the sequence.

It was a curved road sprint, so obviously everyone's perception of the straightest line between two points varied... interesting photo to fill in the gap there.

What Stu W. (ABRT, center in pics) commented on my blog:

"Hey guys - I'm fine - a ton of road rash and a totaled frame and front wheel. My team mate Greg G. went to the hospital but he is ok - more importantly so is his carbon Pinarello. It happened so fast - i believe the nature guy - don't know his name - slide to his right just slightly and I hooked his elbow and the rest is carnage...and I was just using this as a warm up for the 4 race. Great pictures even though it hurts to look at them. I hope everyone heals quickly.

"Does anyone know who the guy i locked up with? I know he went to the hospital. I would like to find out if he is ok."

I can't believe this guy had the gumption to take his hands off the bars after:
a) getting second place
b) hearing armageddon going down just feet away from him.

that's what i was thinking...total tool. not to mention a great way to have someone run into you...i never slow down when there is a crash next to me, infact i usually speed up so some rubber-necker doesn't run into me!

exactly...most of the crashes after the initial come from guys staring at the crash.

He got up and ran across the line without his bike.
