got the longest ride in a longtime (like two months) in on sunday. 2 hours and 27 minutes, and 62 miles later my legs are dead tired. Lost my wrestle off today thanks to them. i had no energy and cant wait for my legs to stop feeling like cinder blocks.

Woke up with back spasms, so decided to go a little easier today than my normal 3x20's. 2 hour lunch ride, 100 minutes of solid SST in the middle.

3 sprints; 20' Test; 3.5 hrs total

Sprints: pretty consistent
1218
1253
1175

20' Test:
Trial 1: Started a bit too hard, 10 minutes @ 302W - The problem was breathign control since it was cold, breathing too hard really hurt my throat.
Trial 2: 20' 310W. 1st half: 297W; 2nd half: 323W; last minute: 400W. So presumably I could go harder.

200TSS, 173W/224W AP/NP for the whole ride.

So I'm starting this season better than I could have hoped for.

Monthly Totals: 48 hrs, 733 mi, everything else unknown.

Back to something a bit more normal for me, 71'.

Eek, if my quick addition is correct, 50 hours for me in November -- almost 2 weeks of riding for umd. That's good for me.

We used to bullseye wamprats back home in Beggar's Canyon and they're not more than 2 meters.

Please remember someday that I let this "slow pitch" straight line go by without hitting it out of the park.

It's a power test (Maximal Aerobic Power) that can be used for (among other things) establishing FTP.

Different methods, but the one I did was start with holding 175W for 1 minute then up it by 25W per minute (so hold 200W for second minute, 225W for third etc). So I got up to 475W and cramped - which screws the test up, and you can't just resit it in the same session. HR was at ~170 I think when I cramped (max 184) so I had a little more in the tank aerobically, but whether I would have gone past my previous effort (500W) is unknown.

But having said that, it is over in under 15 minutes.

So how does one derive FTP from this?

3x
5min@300w
3min@360w
5min@325w
7min@300w

5min cool down

Percentage of your best minute average.

Here's an article on a popular MAP protocol. Probably best to read through this than get it all piecemeal from here.
