Under threshold, but higher than SST, more like low zone 4. The meeting was all vo2max.

I'm not touching the bike today. Saved it all for the gym.

1.5 hours on the rollers this morning, started at 5:30am. I am slowly becoming one with indoor cycling. Tomorrow, more roller time, repeat Thursday and pray for decent weather on the weekend.

Congrats!

Our team is strongly considering a cat 2 only category for this year's race (Tour de Murrieta). I wanted your opinion on what size field we might get for that. On the plus side for you the Pro/1 field will be somewhat smaller.

My 3.5 hr ride w climbing today turned into a 1.5 hr ride with a 30 min segway to a friend's grandma's house that involved biscottis, coffee and chocolate. It was awesome.

And I'm still taking tomorrow off.

Did you shift to a lower gear to go faster?

I love/hate this movie. I love it because it was the closest thing to Event Service's book to educate the USA "masses" way back then. I hate it because now to buy an old Masi Gran Crit frame in the US to build up as a "Sunday Rider" costs more than a state-of-the-art race frame.

Aargh, scratchy throat and head feeling a touch filled, not to mention, nose getting stuffed up every now and then. Yesterday and today were off. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

30 mile commute, 22 degrees. Back on the commuter bike in work clothes. It's just too much at this temperature to be changing back and forth to and from cycling clothes. Felt like crap in the morning, much better in the afternoon.

3x20s this morning. 1@85%, 2@95%. I have not done this in a while and I wanted to quit early into my last 20. But I stuck it out.
Two easy days coming up.

An hour on the TT bike. Mostly easy, just to get used to riding it again, but I decided I really don't like the wire bead armadillo tires. They just suck.

As it has been so cold here over the last week (and I am lazy) here has been the last 5 days:
Saturday: 1 hour tempo

Sunday: 1.5 hours tempo (in the snow)

Monday: 45 minutes tempo, 1 hour on spin bike (19 degrees)

Tuesday: 52 minutes tempo (18 degrees)

Wednesday: Well this morning’s session sucked a$$ (done in this order):
Speed crunches x 3 sets
Hyperextension with kettleball
Walking lunges – length of gym and back
Leg extensions (single leg) x 3 sets to exhaustion
Split leg Squats x 3 sets each leg with kettleball
Split leg squats with leg to the side x 3 sets with kettleball
Single leg bench squats with kettleball x 3 sets per leg
Monster walk frontwards/backwards/sideways
Leg Press x 4 sets to exhaustion
Harness pull x 2 sets frontwards (walking)
Harness pull x 2 sets frontwards (backwards)
Harness pull x 4 sets frontwards (sprinting)
Crunches on bosu ball to exhaustion

Just so you know I am a heat rider and don't like training in the cold - yes I must HTFU I know

1:50 lunch time spin with 2,300 feet of SST climbing in the middle. About half way up said climb, as my mind was hanging out at the door to the pain cave, I started to hear this wierd clink, clink, clink sound. I looked down at my bike but saw nothing amiss. Looked at the houses beside me - no action. Clink, clink, clink continues....$hit! I glanced over the shoulder to confirm. Dog! My HR jumped by more than 20 BPM in a blink as I tried to haul ass UP the hill. Note to self, despite my head start, I can't even outrun a little turdlet Toto dog on a 7% grade. He was on my like flies on doo but he fortunately didn't know how/where to attack (I only realized his lack of acumen in hindsight). He retreated when I swiped a cleat in his direction and grunted with the last little puff I had left to give. Next time I go that route I will let Toto know what a splash of icewater feels like on a cold day.

Edit --- Apparently the sound that a pair of dog tags rattling around is a derogatory term that is not allowed on BF. Had to use clink instead.

Been off the bike 3 days now. Cross racing didn't really agree with my foot. Plus it's crazy cold out.

5:50 up through De Luz and back via Rice Canyon and Couser Canyon. I think I'm going to curl up in a little ball and sleep for a couple of days.

Are you still doing base and riding at L2? No Pendleton for you yet huh? Today was fast for the first time since I came back in Oct. Must be because Thurlow and few other freaks showed up. 370 NP for 20 min

I tend to avoid group rides until sometime in January. For the time being I'm doing a lot of long steady rides and some sub-threshold climbing.
