Training Status??? (II)
Making a kilometer blurry
First day back on the bike after six days off. Had food poisoning Tuesday night, ate a piece of toast Wednesday, and a bowl of oatmeal this morning. Wasn't sure what to expect.
The commute felt pretty normal, targeting high tempo/low threshold and didn't have too much trouble.
On the lunch ride, I was able to open it up a bit and put some pressure on training partners. Surprised to keep it over 300W most of the way, with several longer snaps and two really hard truck chases that about killed my legs. I think the six days off mostly hurt me on the truck drafting, because I actually felt spun out at 50mph.
The good news is that I've now eaten two normal meals and feel about 90% G.I. tract normalcy.

WR -- eek, that's a tough one; glad you're feeling better. Six days off, no problemo! (As an aside, when does Driveway start up? First Thursday after Daylight Savings Time starts? That's my recollection.)
RTC -- thanks, 44.5. And who needs velcro when one has reflector straps or the Zipper Hospital -- I kid thee not).

Bg,
The thing is that they have two of the same 'side' of velcro on one of the straps. So gluing on the other would fix it. I'll dig them up over the weekend and let you know. I'm a 42, but maybe you'd fit? Neoprene is pretty stretchy!
I have two pairs so you can take that pair if you can make it work!

Geek that I am, it looks like the counter correctly accounts for DST too.

Driveway does start up right after DST starts. There's a cool/frustrating countdown timer up on the site, actually: https://drivewayseries.com/

Did you do your quads first and then the hammies?
I've read some stuff that says that 'opposing' muscle groups kind of inhibit each other, chest/back, hammies/quads, bi's/tri's, etc. If you train one first, then the other one is often stronger because the inhibition decreases.
Or it could be that your hammies are just stronger. If you bend with your back instead of with your knees, then that could be a reason for it. Or maybe your quads were a little tired from a hard workout earlier in the week.
Try it the other way around next time and see what happens!

IMO you should ditch isolation exercise like extensions and curls. Do multijoint exercise like squats and step-ups instead.

Met my wife for a nooner - two times up Mount San Bruno. It was a beautiful day - sunny, windy, low 50s. This was my first time climbing since July last year when I started focusing on track. The first z3 climb felt like a z3/z4 and the second climb felt like a z5 gone bad. I did do both at a few watts under my FTP, but I really suffered the 2nd half of the last climb.

I have a love hate relationship with squats now.
I love them, they hate me and my back. Frontsies are fine, back squats seem to be a no-no for my body.

Foam roller is good, as is stretching/yoga/PT, but you also need ice and rest.

4:15 today, 14 hours in the last three days. I'm officially tired. Tomorrow is an easy day then I have 9 more hours planned for the weekend. A rest week is sounding pretty nice right about now.

Throw the stick!!!!
Trainer again this evening. Warmup then 1x30 min tempo (215-257 watts), interval avg 244 watts, 150 bpm. I thought it would be a much easier workout than it was. I don't know if I am just tired or if I plain ole suck.

3 days of intervals in a row will tire anyone out. Don't forget to rest.

Just finished 1:30; 100TSS; group ride - had some sketchy Fing riding. Looks like I'll be doing even less group riding this year than last. I just can't believe who they let on these rides.

Physical therapy of the (sprained) ankle starts tonight - tracing the alphabet with my foot is doable but flexibility has diminished..
Road rash under knee is still healing up..
Bruises still around.. damn I got beat up.
But I'll be back!
