What a crazy difference a few degree drop in temperature makes. It's been 95+ degrees for almost ever ride for the last week or two and I've had been feeling like crap. Today it rained and dropped into the 80s.
New 20 minute and 3 minute PRs. Looks like I wont quit bikes after all.

So what muscle runs along the IT band about mid thigh outside of the leg?
…mine keeps twitching/cramping when I push the pace…I got a RR coming up next week and it's starting to stress me out a bit. I've been rolling out the IT bands on the foam roller, but it isn't helping much.

piano z1/2 ride. 33mi, 3400ft of climbing, 17mph avg. Knee still hurts, but I no longer have to stop to stretch while riding.
Shwing.
tomorrow- 4-5 hrs z2, with 2 large climbs. One is 5mi @ 6.5%, the other is 9mi @ 6%. Will be doing tempo up both, and attacking hard up the steep sections.
If I feel good sunday, another 2.5hrs/50ish miles or so. Then, transition into a 5 day rest period.

The knee issues set me back roughly 2 months or so, and thus my first race is going to be Wilmington/Whiteface, where I intend to play super domestique for a teammate that wants upgrade points. Looks like after that will be Housatonic, then I have no idea til around Toona.
Because of the delay of my season, I'm not looking to be rightfully quick until late July-September. Want to be at Catskills, GMSR, Tour of the ADKs, Capital Region RR (probably), Tokeneke (is it running this year?), Toona, amongst others.

Finally on the bike after a 2nd week of rest and Sudafed. Tempo ride cut short by epic thunderstorm. I was sure I'd be in for a tornado or hail but luckily missed those on my mad dash back home. Just got a lot of sand in the eyes.

Loop around the Lake Washington today, 3:00 at .84IF. Ridiculous winds with storms blowing through most of the day, but we dodged all the rain. Attacked all the hills, new PR times and mid-term power across the board. I still can't climb, but it's getting better. I also need to figure out why my 5' power is so far above my FTP.

Fairly short solo ride today. Legs that felt snappy last weekend when I thought I was going to stroke out from the head congestion had no power today. Slow Cat is slow.

well, i actually did get to ride up Bear today. I think i put out ~250W, which means that my threshold power is slowly coming back. The damned ride was so frigging hot, and while i drank 1 bottle from NYC to Bear, i drank 1.5 from Bear to Nyack.

My training partners for the day

Probably one of the best cycling related days I've had in a long time.
Woke up early, had breakfast at a teammates house while catching up with basically my closest teammates. Then hit up the local recreational group ride (this group used to be a lot stronger but has gone "soft" in recent years) and shamelessly attacked the group over and over again. Eventually 5 of us took off and had a great ride together. There was a newer guy there (only his second year riding) and him and I got some good attacks in on each other...good stuff. This kid is going to be a monster this year. He has a local cat 1 training him and in only his second year of riding, he said he did a 20' interval at 400+w (he weighed like 180) at the time. He is super, super motivated and definitely has what it takes.
Also, my legs felt better than they've felt in a few weeks. Race legs are coming around just in time for the xc trip, lol.
