I already knew that before. Now it can just be quantified.

I should really start posting some more of my numbers, it will make you guys feel really good.

Last week I did a crit with an average speed of 26mph. AP was 171w.

you wheel sucker

one of my worst crits (Grant's Tomb) was one in which i was averaging 280w (at 69kg) trying to stay up. Not sleep enough the night before b/c we were the even coordinator didn't help. That crit really really effing sucked.

OTOH, i can sit in and conserve on a fast crit. Then i just wait for 2 to go and launch a suicide attack to see how far i can drag things.

I felt like I was flying when I was at a 270-280 20 min power. Sigh.
I'll see what the coaches say, but I think that since I'll be doing my bike workouts on the same equipment, my computrainer 20' test is valid. If I came back with 345W, and they gave me some nasty workouts based on that number, I may not be able to complete them on a computrainer.

Coach emailed me and they realized I got the wrong threshold test (wrong product). I got the 20' TT, which is really just a Computrainer workout. I was supposed to get the full SRM analysis on the ergometer. We'll do that next week, on this bike:

I won't be having any inertial problems on that thing with an adjustable 50-100kg flywheel.

No. tried to shift to 34/10 and popped my chain off. Unfamiliar with the road, should have big-ringed that portion.

Good guess. Max I've seen this year was 205. I know a 70+ year old who regularly hits 190s.

180 and I'm way past threshold. 190 and I'm seeing stars. But it's different for everyone.

Mine was 175 for the 20' test today, and that was five higher than I thought it would be (I rarely use my HRM). That would put my LTHR in the 171-172 range, which is the same as it was when I was 25, 30, 35... Everyone is different.

I cleared my calendar to go home early and get a ride in before a "command performance" family dinner (nephew that just graduated UVa and then was commissioned as an officer in the USMC is leaving tomorrow). I gathered up my kit and was ready to change when Spawn2 walked in the back door of the house. He was picked up from school by my f-i-l and was supposed to go to their house all the way across town to work on some school assignments. Grandpa dropped him of at our house and left without even saying "hello". All of his textbooks and other assorted materials were at the inlaw's, so he couldn't do anything at home. I had to waste an hour driving him there and coming home, just to go back there with Spawn1 in a few minutes. At least I spent the short time I had in the interim posting on BF instead of riding.

Tomorrow I will try to do a "two-a-day" if I can to make up for this training failure.

And I blame Spawn2 more than f-i-l for this.

I'd be about the same range as you WR - max is at about 185-188. Comes from having a big frame and hence a bigger heart to pump blood around.

Anyway, did a fast group ride with only 3 of us this morning. People put themselves into categories for this ride - cheese, mice, rabbits or hounds leaving at 5:50, 5:55, 6:00 and 6:05. I was in the last group and we passed the earlier riders about 3/4 the way through.

Good hard ride for me - IF above 1 as it is an up and down course:
