Training Status??? (II)
fair weather cyclist
I did 5 8.5 minute intervals with 4' recovery @ around 7-10% above FTP, maybe my CP25 or something?

Back on the bike!
First ride outside since breaking three ribs a few weeks ago (https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...1#post12911793). Just under an hour, mostly Z2 and low Z3. No issues riding an easy base pace but I did a few half-efforts to boost the HR, just to get some idea of where the pain limits are right now. I was good to about low Z4, but it was not sustainable because I was doing shallow, high-chest breathing instead of deep diaphragm breathing. Anything over that the ribs were sending me definite "DO NOT DO THIS" messages. Also, my HR recovery was pathetic.
Even with that, I am delighted with this ride - it went way better than I expected. I figure I'll stick with Z2 stuff for another week or so and then see about introducing some intensity. I think the State Ch. RR in two weeks is out of the question, but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get in another couple races before the last race of the season on Labor Day.
Stoked!!!

Saturday was a crit.
Sunday I went out for an FTP+ ride and finally knocked an annoying outlier from last October off of my top five bests list.
I'm soon to head out on a super easy recovery ride. I'm making the challenge to bring it in under 100 NP. The more old ladies that pass me, the better.

Saturday - 3:48, 65 miles of endurance. Got rained on a bit and it actually felt quite refreshing after all of the heat.
Sunday - off
Today - 5x6min @ CP30. Hurt a bit. Especially the last 2.

Dead. so dead. Eating everything in sight. Today is off, tomorrow an easy 1hr spin, Wednesday 1.5hrs with some light intervals, and Thursday another 1hr spin. Should have me recovered for Catskills. At the moment though, I feel like I owed Joe Pesci money and so he broke my legs.

took yesterday off, wanted to go hurt myself today but looking at the red blobs on the radar map made me decide two days off in a row isn't such a bad thing.

Tomorrow I have to go to Orlando for meetings with 3 different people. I thought about packing the bike and heading to Sugarloaf for hill repeats on the way home, but I have to take a huge amount of hardware down there for drop off. Now I'm hoping to get back home soon enough for a 3 hour ride. Maybe I'll plan it so that I'm coming in on Angle Road whilst the Hipp Ride is going out. If so, I promise to wave.

Easy hour on the FG after dinner. I'll make myself hurt tomorrow, but this evening was just a pleasant bike ride.

Utterly gutted myself yesterday trying to hold the wheels of the 1/2's...Then fighting the wind trying to bring the wife home in the money....
Easy today, easy tomorrow...Then it's travel day for Catskills...
I'll be in the 4's, sporting the Hamilton Cycling Club kit...This is gonna be fun

I was going to go out today, but I got sidetracked at home with family stuff and then soon is the monthly team meeting. Sigh.

Today was big gear work on the TT bike. First workout of this block; last block was on my road bike, this block is on the TT bike. I could definitely feel the different muscle groups today and it felt like I was just about starting from scratch.

Tweaked my knee climbing into a big cardboard box last night (don't ask ). Woke up this morning and still felt it a bit so I gave my knee the day off.

Question, can your legs just not want to work on a random day? How often does that happen? I had mines happen at least every other week yet I bounce back strong the next day.
When my legs dont want to work my thigh burns sooner and that burn doesnt go away.

Went out to do some SST, but the heat index was 105 F so I dialed it back to the high end of Zone 2. Freakin' hot. Nasty.

I just finished a 124 TSS ride in the dark. I have very little going for me.
It looks like they fixed the calorie calc on the Garmin 500 -or at least got it in the ballpark. My 705 says I burned 2500 cals in 1.5hrs.

I know right. No matter which direction I go I have to climb at least 800ft to get back to the top of the hill my house is on.

Yesterday: 3.5 hours on the TT bike- l planned on 3x15's got through 2 of them power fell on the last one but am thinking I have posiitioning problems (which occurred after I swapped seat posts and changed some other things at nationals but then didn't make any changes after swapping saddles back). Going to fix those and see if I can get out what I want to see tomorrow.
