I always think of it in terms of the Prez Bush joke.
Mr. President 6 Brazilian troops were killed in Iraq today.
Oh my God that's horrible! How many is in a brazillion?
--- training content to follow ----
70 minute lunch ride. Punched up all the hills between 400 and 750 watts depending on length. That range is my limiter. JRA for the last 30 for recovery.

I think I've completely stopped keeping track of training rides, hours, etc.. and it seems to have worked just fine. (in terms of results)
However in the off-season I might start training more seriously, now that race season is done and I don't have races to keep me fit.

Alright, I've turned the link white and added a note. I work at a defense contractor and thought our policies were pretty conservative. Searching for a nationality causes more problems than I imagined. Heck, even "german," "dutch," and "japanese" turn up some stuff that you wouldn't put in a corporate newsletter. "Chinese" is quite safe though. I've always gotten a kick at how much Rule 34 is supported with a GIS.
In other news: ZCI™s this morning. I was pulling them in around 340W for the 5th and 6th ones, so that felt good. I need to start taking it easy on intensity though, with three crits this weekend.

Yeah. I didn't read ahead this time around.
Work is actually fine right now. Lots going on and keeping me busy. Just wish the gf would stop gchatting me at work. I like it, but then we both end up having to stay later.
It's like:
oh hai, you know if we just saved this banter for after work then we'd be able to hang out longer right? Just sayin'...

just in from two 30' intervals on the TT bike.
cloudy and not all the warm, but...
sweaty, covered in spit, and that's after the downhill-ish one on the way home.
I'll make all of them pay next year - oh yes precious, next year they'll pay.

80 min. of tempo this morning. No power, no HRM, and I'm pretty sure my Garmin overestimated my caloric output by, oh I dunno, 100%.

Glad to see you're gettin back out there!!

thanks matt - a friend who has been racing for 30 years recently told me, "In this sport, people usually to get fast one of two ways - getting a divorce or getting laid off... since 95% of your failures this last year were base-mileage related, you should think about riding more"
riding has been good, but the MS150 in two weeks will be a shock to the system. I've got to start doing 60 & 70 mile days in starting ... now.

Tuesday night worlds tonight!
Except no one showed up!!
Ended up doing a warmup and 2x15min at Threshold and a cooldown on the crit course by myself. Apparently I missed the memo that no one was showing up tonight.

Some pretty good lifting and riding. What is that? House parts, boat dock parts? How's the inside of the property looking?

Final club TT last night, did Merckx style since GMSR does not allow aero-bars or bikes...
First time I've hit it hard in over a week due to my wonky back, no ill effects this morning so hopefully it's settled down now! Of course a 9-10hr drive to Vermont is probably not the best thing for it...
Tonight is a short recovery ride and then car packing intervals!

while the landscaping was torn apart, and a minor amount of water got into my sister's place, the rest of the houses were spared.

All time best 10 and 20 minute power this morning. Not exactly sure where it came from, but it feels good.

Hahahhaha.
You're not supposed to sprint for 30th dude
Tip of the hat, sir.

Did a terrain-driven SST ride today. I had my commuting pack the whole time, but met three training partners, so I didn't want to go out of the way to drop the pack.
One newish racer on the ride broke all four of his power profile bests this morning. Fairly brisk pace.

Did the local worlds last night, got to the front and pulled 3 times for 3'. Set a pb on the second one by a bit.
This morning did 2x30's before work. I had a hard time getting on top of the gears, I think the derailer's not shifting correctly and skipping a cog; I would either spin out, or bog down, while going between these two gears. So something's amiss there.

Due to lack of coin, i am skipping GMSR. Sucks, as it was THE goal of my year, especially given my early season knee injury. Bah.
That said, went for a group ride last night. One of the riders has been kicking my ass for years, and last night I rode him off my wheel at will while doing tempo. Between that, my experiences in the few races I've done while fit this year, and timing myself up climbs, it's safe to say that I am miles ahead of where I've ever been before.
I've only ridden 5.5 of the last 12 months...The goal at this point is to actually ride through the fall for once, and keep my fitness (and snap) through base, so I can go forth and murder in the spring. I basically start every year back at square one; my first ride of 2011 was 1.5hrs @ 17mph on flat ground, and I felt like I was going to die. Having never ridden a year without taking at least a few months off (seriously, never), it'll be interesting to see how much the consistency in training benefits the next year's fitness.
