A lot of those miles were spent in groups. There's a local "fast guys" group ride that meets every Sat/Sun here, and during the week I'll either ride solo or in a small group of 2-3 others. I go steady zone 2 on the slower stuff (until the climbs start) and then don't worry about HR zones on the fast group stuff.

3:45 of pretty easy endurance pace. Pretty tired and sluggish. I just wanted to get the ride over with. Last three weeks were 865 TSS, 811 TSS, and 849 TSS. I'm taking tomorrow off, VO2 intervals on Tuesday, 4-5 hour endurance ride Wednesday, then it's time to start resting and racing. Big B+ priority race coming up in 2 weeks.

90 minutes on the KK. it seems to be my time threshold that i need to work on breaking through. well, it could just freaking warm up to say, 25 degrees, and i could ride outside. anyway, tossed in 2x20 @ 95% during the effort. later.

Last year I couldn't get past 80' on the rollers. This year I've managed to get to 2.5hrs so far. It is all about setting a goal and steadily increasing time. Watching a good movie helps too.

41.8hrs for January, most of those on the rollers. Only 270 miles on the road.

I need to take a day off when the weather is good so I can get out and do a long ride. I need miles in my legs - bad. But the weather is hit or miss again this week. Rain, sleet, freezing rain, snow. This ain't the south.

Rest today. Not sure what to do with myself.

Big week coming up. 23 hours. Starting more threshold intervals, with volume tacked on. Rest next week, looking forward to it.

Tomorrow: 5min intervals, TT bike, + 2 hrs. Should be about 3-3.5 hrs total. On the Grundle Killer. Kill me now.
Wed: 4 hours, climbing
Thurs: 5 min intervals. 2 hrs total.
Friday: 2 hrs easy
Saturday: Oval ride for 2ish hours, then endurance. 6hrs total.
Sunday: Practice races w/the team, then some more volume. Total 5.5-6 hrs.
Monday: sleep all day.

Ze, I tried your 8x5x1 intervals at lunch. I only had time for 7, and went a little harder on the last few to make up for it. It does seem like it would be better suited for two sets, so next time I might go a touch harder from the get-go. Good FTP workout though.

I haven't ridden much this month and gained about 8 lbs. I'm in terrible shape. "F"-it. I'll race again this weekend for 4 weekends in a row. Maybe I'll race both days. The following weekend I'm in Chicago in the morning and then flying out of Midway midday on Saturday. I'm guessing that there aren't any races in Chicagoland that I could do that could fit my travel schedule.

1hr 45min on the rollers. 15' warmup then spun along at endurance pace in 50X17 @ 100RPM. I threw in two 2' efforts at 45' and 75' just to see how they felt. I went too hard too fast on the first one and barely held it together till the end. Second one was a little better, but I couldn't reach the same power (judged via speed) as the first one. All in all a decent day.

my legs felt very "lead-like" this morning. Additionally, I flatted; my new tube had a slow leak. I called it a day, pumping it about 3 times just to get home. ugh

Started to pump some advil into the system today to see if it would help ease the tightness felt in my outer hip on down through the knee and shin; I felt a little looser, and fine enough to ride on the computrainer. In fact, it was the best I have felt leaning over the bars in about 2 weeks or so (gonna monitor pain carefully):
10' 30" 158ap warmup
49' 45" 194ap I wanted to have some effort beyond easy, but, not push it too much.

If I feel ok tomorrow, I'll likely continue with this type of ride for a bit and hope the tightness will clear up soon enough.

Now, if you will pardon me, I have an appointment with Jack, Rene and Chloe

Was supposed to do 2x20' tonight at 95-100% FTP

Instead, I did 6x5' ZCI (ZeCanon Intervals) at 107, 106, 105, 106, and 103% FTP.

January totals (It helps to be under-employed)
88:15 2490 km
was on pace for 100 hours, but a week of rain and getting sick sidetracked me :S

Tried out the 5 min intervals as well today. Pretty hard, I do like them better than 20 min intervals.
7X5 1min rest
slight wind from NW odds east evens west from mile 0-2 on putah tt in drops #7 in IAB
4:55.4; 5:12.1; 4:54.1; 5:06.7; 4:43.8; 5:12.1; 4:36.7

slight uphill from east to west
I modified it slightly and did 2 miles for time. Ended up being right around 5 for most of them so It worked out well
