patentcad 07-28-09 05:34 PM

Yikes. That's the girl that dropped me on the Hook Mtn climb last September on the Nyack Ride @ the end.

Whoah.

I **** you not boys.

Give me a break. I'm confessing to being dropped by a [I]girl[/I ] here.

I talked to her by the Runcible Spoon. She said she had just done well in the Green Mtn race in VT, and I remember telling myself 'no wonder she shelled me on that climb'.

JPradun 07-28-09 06:28 PM

Isn't this the person who said, in an interview, that she does this as a fun hobby?

If I were competing against her, this statement would piss me off more than someone telling me that I will never be fast.

At least she seems cool.

translation: I let her know that my brakes were rubbing when she dropped me while looking at her boobs.

She's also REALLY smart. (She's a fellow alumnus- here's an article)

Boobs?

Legs.

Scared him to death....;)

CRCA rocks. They got me into bike racing at age 8.

patentcad 07-28-09 07:01 PM

She was a really nice girl, I'm happy to see she's having so much success. Very cool.

That's about right.

diziet 07-28-09 07:09 PM

She dropped me a few times as well, in CP. (I think).

patentcad 07-28-09 07:41 PM

She's a tough little climber, she could drop half the guys here on a hill.

roadiejorge 07-28-09 07:50 PM

Wow that's a pretty quick rise up the ranks, best of luck to her. It's interesting to hear her say that she prepared by riding around CP, the 9W route and a trainer since it's what so many people do though I'm sure the intensity of her rides aren't probably matched to easily by most of us.

patentcad 07-28-09 08:03 PM

Forget the training. Lots of people train hard. When you go from Cat 4 to top pro in a year you have genetics on your side. Good for her, she really was a very sweet, friendly, low key, nice young woman, no airs or attitude whatsoever. Nicest girl you'll ever meet. And pretty and smart. Nothing wrong with all that.

One of the cool people you meet cycling. Everybody here would like her immediately. Her cycling chops were impressive, her lovely personality more so. I recognized her in the picture and remembered her right away.

Think the ultimate polar opposite of me in every way and you get the picture.

Isn't 'to boot' an Australian colloquialism? Why am I hearing this all over the place as of late?

interview here

Read it a few weeks ago and was equally as shocked by her immediate success and casual approach / attitude.

patentcad 07-28-09 08:25 PM

Typically I hate people with that much talent, but she was far too nice. I liked her. And this was after she had dropped me.

I'm in SoCal, PCad. I've been shelled by so many fast women I don't even count.

PhillyRoadie 07-28-09 11:28 PM

You know, I saw the subject and I thought this was another one of those threads.

they also have an impressive history of developing top women racers, like former US TT Champ, Elizabeth Emery.

Back in the 80's I remember Mike Engleman did the same thing.. Was a runner, started racing and was racing cat 1/2 by years end..
