Jens RULES. What a great rider/personality for the sport. Man does Germany need more pro cyclists like him.

Everyone who thinks cyclists aren't tough needs to watch A)the video of Jens' crash, and then B)this video.

Mere mortals wouldn't be that lively after surviving something like Jens went through.

It seems to go with racing two wheels. Back in the day when I was doing the pro motorcycle thing, I knew guys who raced the day after losing a finger, sawed their casts off and jammed broken legs into their boots, and it was pretty common to have someone waiting with your crutches in the pits after the race.

With a nod to hockey players and football guys, and a big raspberry to most baseball players, half of whom sit out with a hangnail.

I'm hoping Jens will hang for one more Tour.

My fave baseball club has had problems recently with players playing with injuries. They end up playing poorly and injuring themselves worse. Baseball players play almost every day for months, so they need to rest up when they get hurt.

And baseball players don't even train when hurt..seriously as much as these guys sit on their butts when they are 'competing' you'd think they'd get enough rest during the game...then they just stand around for 10 hours while the pitcher and catcher play catch. I have zero sympathy for these guys...

Indeed there is and a lot of pro's race when injured. Just watch the tour, a ton of guys banged up and still giving it their all every day. Look at Big George this year. There is no way baseball players are tougher then cyclists, no way. Hell a lot of them are overweight.

Are you saying that competion for a month is harder?
Because the tour, the giro, etc last for a month and are far more demanding

I'd be happy to continue arguing in another thread; I think I've derailed this one enough.
