DC area training rides
Hey all, I will be in DC for a week in Septemeber. Does anyone know of any good training rides that take place DURING the week. I am there for work so I have either early a.m. of evening rides I can do. Please let me know details (i.e. start time, place etc.) Alternatively, does anyone have any ideas for good areas for solo training (intervals, hill repeats, etc.)
Thanks!
Thanks!

Thursday at Haines Point starting at like 5:30 pm you will find local racers sprinting it out around the loop. You can ride your bike there if you're staying nearby, or you can park your car in a lot there. This is also a good place for solo intervals, its a flat 3.2 mile loop.
Hill repeats can be done in Rock Creek Park, just go up and around the side streets off of Beach Drive starting at this intersection and going up Ridge Road.

Just to warn you about the nature of that ride (at least the one that I know of, which is mostly NCVC folks), it's a "sprints" ride back and forth on Eisenhower Avenue, but leaves the shop at 6:10 PM. Since it's a sprints ride, there are two stretches each lap where the pace is pretty darn high, but after that, it's totally game-off slow for recovery and chatting. Always a welcoming group. If you get dropped on the lead-outs, you can just cut the median after the group takes a u-turn and join in again.

6.5 to 7 miles I would guess... One of the turnarounds is at Metro Rd (Van Dorn metro stop) and the other is a bit shy of getting to the circle near downtown. Usually it's 3 laps before heading back to spokes.
