DIY Heelpad Replacement Ideas? (Rocket7)
So from what I gather, Rocket7 is more or less closing shop. One of the heelpads fell off yesterday, and since I may not be able to order the replacement pad, does anyone have any ideas on a homebrew solution to protect the sole?
Right now I am considering gluing on the Sidi pads, but am not sure if there is a type of glue that will properly hold it in place and yet be able to be removed via solvent later. Edit: sorry, wrong forum. If a mod would like to move this to the general road cycling forum, i'd appreciate it. |
shoe goo, cheap and can be found at wal-mart, can take it off with a razor blade.

I had the heel pad detach from a nice Northwave shoe with a carbon sole. I happened to have a bunch of faucet washers and super-glued one to the shoe. It worked for a good long time, but eventually it fell/got ripped off. So I just glued another one on. That was a CHEAP fix.

Tubular glue, in previous cross seasons I've used it to glue tire treads to the mid-soles of shoes and had it last for nearly a full season

While you're at walmart getting said shoe goo, they also have glue on pads, designed originally for dress shoes i believe.

I cut up an old tire and glue it to the heel of my shoes.

All good suggestions, thanks sirs. I do not run tubulars; so do those with experience think the adhesive would be strong enough to mate sidi pads and carbon soles with a liberal amount of slick clear coat?
