$20...The sponsors on our jerseys give us a small break on their products. I can usually ebay stuff for cheaper, though. One of our sponsors is a photographer, though, so the pics might be worth it. However, he's canceled the last 2 photo shoots...

a bag of socks
gruppos and wheels and tires at framebuilders costs
$25 + race entry reimbursed if you podium. between this and prize money i broke even last year on entry fees. so racing really only cost me my license and some gas money

$40, no reimbursements (but some of us are working on it), 15% discount at the shop, some mid level product sponsorships (none are terribly useful or appealing--spiuk helmets? really? we're working on that, too), kit is cost.
Our team is mostly a club, but enough of us race to the point that we're trying to eek out a bit of value for our membership. Right now, I don't even know what the dues are used for other than a BBQ in September. And that ain't no $2400 BBQ...

$40, Juniors $0. Kits are priced well, very good discounts and several ex national team types that will coach you just for the price of asking. We also have some members that own businesses that are beneficial to cyclists. They provide us with services, even though they are not sponsors. Very nice people. Oh, and we have a team car this year.

$30/yr for the club + some volunteer time. No elite team this year, but nearly everyone races. It's a big club.
No race fee reimbursements, but we get free kits if we race enough.
Most schwag is about 35% off retail.

for those on the other side.. what does it cost to run a team?
If you sell kits at cost and your races break even or make money... where does the money from membership + sponsors go aside from USAC fees ($150 per year?).

my new team is tiered and subsidizes dues for folks who race a lot and are particularly active in the scene.
theres about 40 guys and the 3 tiers range $50/yr + from wholesale on kits/cost +%10 at the shop down to the "elite" team having no dues and two free kits and some other sweet discounts that are still getting ironed out.
elite isnt about cat or results its just about how active and participatory you are. i think theres like 5-8 guys on the elite team.

My team/club membership for this year past was $150 but that included the Monday night learn-to-race clinics and Tuesday night crits all season long. Kits were pretty close to retail price.
Going with a different group next year but will probably still pay the $150 for the Tuesday night races.

Up to now it's been nothing/price of a kit.
If our plans work out for next year it will be:
tiered team. 10 "elite" (Cat 1/2/3) and 20 "Development" (Cat 4/5)
Development:
Dues = $35 - reimbursed after completing 1 race during the calendar year.
Cost +5% on core products - Cost +10% on non-core
Kits at less than cost - subsidized by sponsors.
Wheels at cost
Free pit wheels to use at races, free mechanical work, sponsored rider pricing on key product relationships, ProDeal pricing on many large named products, grassroots on 2 large names, less than dealer cost on a particular carbon race frame.
computrainer training classes at 20% discount
Use of carbon race wheels based on availability
use of power device based on availability
elite:
no dues. no cost for 1 kit. $150 reimbursement for race fees incurred end of season)
Use of carbon race wheel set for season
"given" aluminum wheel training set.
Carbon bike frame below cost
Pricing at cost for 90% of items Cost + 5% on some non-core
Wheels less than cost
Pit wheels
Computrainer time at severly cut rate.
Classes at 20% discount
Coaching at too low to quote here.
use of power device based on availability
Free mechanical work
I am sure there are others.....
I am about racing and getting people racing and keeping them racing.
Women and Juniors don't count towards my totals. I am always open to women and juniors joining the team (no cap).

Where i am moving has no registered USAC team. there are some nearby-ish but i would prefer one more local. there is a local club and they put on quite a few races including a huge USAC race, yet they are not registered as a USAC team. it did not quite sound like they were interested in becoming one. i would have to dig a little further to see what their positions are but don't want to stir up the pot too much as an outsider/new guy.
