Hopefully in about 5 years when Van Garderen, Stetina, or Phinney will give the US a real chance of winning the RR and/or the TT. The men's elite team they field these days has no chance IMO.

Not very soon.
The UCI is still pissed about the extremely low turnout of '86 in Colorado Springs.

Luckily we have had a very inspiring Olympic RR in '96 and then the World's in Hamilton, Canada in 2003.

When we have a decent team, or when the A-list US Pros decide to start riding worlds. I have to say I'm very disappointed with the team selection of who is going to the Men's Elite RR and TT this year from the US.

When Americans realize that American football isn't a sport and we start using the name football for what we call soccer.

I heard people talking about this once during T.o.Missouri. I was called away before they got around to mentioning a city, so I didn't hear the rest of that conversation. And I forgot to go back and ask.

And you're always free to round up some sponsors and bid on it.
What city would you pick?

how about bringing a UCI race to the states that rates more than a Euro B-squad? and don't bother saying the ToC - that's a vacation.

Whatever city it might be, they'd need about 7 days worth of road closures. I believe juniors are back on the bill with women/U23/Pros.

How many cities have decent courses, can attract 100,000 spectators and will not have a chance of biting cold in Oct?

I think the Euro perspective is that the USA is provincial and backward with regard to road cycling.

Having lived in Europe I'd say they were spot on, unfortunately.

Unless they were within an hour of my house I wouldn't go, so I'd agree they're right.

It's not about the number of pros or fans, it's about the money. If a host pays the UCI the right amount, puts on a good show, pays to promote the heck out of the race, and greases the right palms, you win it.

Montreal and Oslo were in August when worlds was placed where it supposed to be.
Hamilton got a beautiful day.
I'd imagine Copenhagen might get a bit unlucky when they host. We'll see.
Remember Holland in '98. Nasty.

Hamilton was awesome.
It's a 4-hour drive from my house, but I ran into friends from all over the country.
