funny. couple of teammates are talking about the same stuff.

considering that i've barely touched the bike for the past month, it's a good thing i live in civiiization.

this means that our season will start kicking into gear when yours is ending.

I remember back in VT my first mtb race of the year would be early May...

Starting in January? That's nuts. I won't even start building until the beginning of March.

Considering that we end in mid October (not counting Tour de Gruene which is early November) it's a long season.

considering that you don't race at all during the summer (or so you've told me): incorrect.

screw that.

I'd make it 2 seasons a year with that schedule and I would most likely take the summer off. I race better with cooler temperatures.....wait....I suck. Nvrmnd.

I usually take the summer off...but I've had so much illness and injury this season I raced in the latter part of the summer just to get some seat time. This year I'm done after Ft Davis (4/10/11) for any serious racing, wont start thinking about racing seriously again until we get closer the state RR in October.

I think several people down here in FL, including me, do this...usually coincides with family vacation time in July and August. Just take a few weeks off the bike then latter August - October is full of races.

Hell, I think there was one race scheduled this Fall where they cancelled it, citing among several reasons one that cyclists had stated they were dead tired from racing every weekend during the heat wave that went from June through September.

Can't race until the snow melts and then the courses dry at least a little bit. Trails were still mud bogs until June usually.

Here in WV, our schedule starts Mid-March. MABRA's isn't out yet, but I'm assuming it will be roughly the same. I cut my season short in Sept., so I've already been laying down some foundation miles for about a month. Getting ready to step it up in about 2 weeks and start pushing my LT. I know it's necessary, but winter training is no fun...

Quick, somebody tell the idiots on the front of the Nyack Ride about this whole 'off season' concept. It would appear that racing from March through October isn't enough for them.

Hah, is that a collegiate race? I love the feeling of the first race of the season being one of those brutal prologue length collegiate TTs. It's like, "let's all do our first VO2 interval of the new year together!"
