Any news on Landis going to CSC?

I was just wondering if anybody had some news about the fact that Landis is maybe going to CSC?

I still haven't had time to ask about it yet. But I'm going to ask around here in the next week and see about Axel too while I'm at it.

Is this a fact or an unsubstantiated rumor...perhaps he's in the process of negotiating, maybe he has multiple offers, maybe he's using the other offers to leverage a new deal with Discovery. The posts I've read however give the impression that Floyd's switching teams is a "fait accompli" when in truth I've seen no solid proof so far that would tell me this is true.

It's a fact. I spoke to Robbie Ventura on Tuesday afternoon, and he was telling me that Floyd is definitely leaving, either to Phonak or CSC. I don't think he's made a decision yet, but I guess since folks seem to be signing contracts left and right, we'll know sooner rather than later.

If I was in Floyds position I would go with CSC, iif he is going to Phonak he will maybe get more money, but then he will only be changing captain from Armstrong to Hamilton, but if that is what he wants then go with that, if he is going to test his abilaties as a captain he should go to CSC, because on CSC they dont have one captain, they developed that this year, but before the tour the captains were Sastre and Basso. I believe that he is going to pick CSC.

What do you think???

I hope he goes to CSC. They have such a strong group of good riders. Not like I don't think Phonak doesn't, but I just feel like CSC would be better for him. And you're right, it really would give him potential to develop into a team captain and maybe even captain a few of the classics too. You never know.

Actually, a good friend of mine is a good friend of his. So it's through association. But on Tuesday, he came to my fitness club with my friend (also his friend), and they taught a cycling class there.

Great!

Then you will be able to have a good insight on the USP.
Actually I have got the same thing on CSC, because my family is good friends with Frank Hojs family!

To the danish tabloid newspaper Bjarne Riis says that he wants to keep his current squad, and the number of new signings could be counted on one hand.

It also tells that the very strong rider Floyd Landis from the US Postal team has requested a place in the team for the next season but in the GT tours CSC doesn't need so many riders. And under the tour Bjarne says that many many good riders went to his room to request a place in the team for the next season.

The only riders who had a contract for next year is Voigt, Basso, Bartoli, Jaksche, Gusev, Peron, Arvesen, Jakob Piil and Brian Vandborg

But Bjarne is waiting for a new main sponsor and hopefully the pro tour license before he wants to negotiate contracts again--
But riders like blaudzun and Nicki Sørensen have claimed that they wants to have the security of their cycling career as soon as possibly declared(??) for the new season

But one thing is for sure: Michael Sandstød and Maximilian Sciandri aren't a part of the team for the coming season because of their retirements

And Bjarne says that Jimmy Madsen will have to leave the team..he won't be offered a new contract

Earlier has Bobby Julich claimed that he wants to wait for Bjarne until he gets the money, because he really wants to stay at CSC

Too bad for Floyd. Maybe on to Phonak then.

Well, wait a minute! It's not like he's getting booted to a bad team. There's nothing bad for him as long as he's got good teams to go to, right?

Well I dont think that Floyd is out of the picture with CSC, if CSC has got a new sponsor soon, he could be riding for them next year!

Not yet. I actually would prefer to contact my friend that he's friends with and find out that way. I haven't had the time to track them down. They're both busy with that training company they've got going up north.

CSC still has the title sponsorship for another year. What the team is looking for in a co-sponsor or another major sponsor.

On Landis, magic 8 ball says maybe.

I still haven't. Call it good old fashioned procrastination.

I probably will contact him on my own sometime next week and cut out the middle man. Another friend of Robbie's is a good friend of mine, so he kind of gave me an "in" for a conversation starter, so I will use it when I get in touch with him. Just a little busy right now to go tracking the guy down.

I don't know anyone on any pro teams, but I'd love to see Floyd on the Phonak team. I think he would look great on one of those BMC frames.

Cheers

Julich won the bronze in the Olympic TT today, so his market value just went up!

Way to go Bobby!
