The Inevitable 2010 Goals Thread

So I'll go first:

Cat up to a 3. This was my goal last year and I started off well then got side tracked by illness and injury. My plan is to hit the first three races of the year and do well enough to get the last 14 point I need for my upgrade. After that I'm looking for some top 5's in the 40+ and good finish at Ft Davis. I really believe all of this is achievable as long as I can keep my UC in check.

For me: #1 Ranking for Elite Masters

All doable.

I'd like to try to make it to the elite track nationals and onto the podium... so ~4:49 4K individual pursuit.

EDR: Are you doing Copperas Cove? if so, what Category are you racing?

My goals:
1) Get to 170 lbs. originally I thought this would be easy. Right now my weight is spanning 178-182. I'm certainly eating much healthier now than in the past, trying to eat out less (used to eat out ever lunch), and eat more unprocessed foods. Maybe as my miles increase and training becomes consistent I'll complete this goal.
2) Get at least 1/2 my upgrade points to 3. I'm not really stuck on upgrading, but I think this represents what I'm capable of for the upcoming year.
3) Don't rely on crits solely for those upgrade points above.

Get cat 2 track by the summer, cat 2 road by the end of the season.
Break 40mph in a sprint.
165lb race weight (which I'm nearly at).

Johnny I had planned on doing Copperas before getting the flu. Today was the first real training day I've had since Thanksgiving so if things keep progressing then yes. If I do it it will be in the 3/4 race with WR. I'm definately in for New Bruanfels in the 4's and Pace Bend in the 4's. I hope to have my upgrade points by the time I leave Pace.

Non-competitive goals:

1. Actually perform a REAL 5 minute test, exceed 5W/kg
2. Break 1000 watts peak power
3. Maybe, JUST MAYBE, hit 4W/kg FTP

Competitive

1. Win hill climb race (mountain bike, not road bike)
2. Place top ten in cat4 race
3. Win a sprint during our club ride

Pretty lame goals... but hey, I'm a pretty lame rider.

1. Fix or adjust for my leg length and other fit issues.

2. Train for and race a full season without injury preventing me from train as much and as hard as I need to.

That's really all I want. Results and an upgrade to 3 would be very nice, but they're really just gravy. And to be honest, I'm confident enough in my abilities to believe that, if I can do the training and I need to without the distraction of injury and discomfort, that results will take care of themselves.

Drop weight to 165, possibly 160 (178 now, too much upper-body muscle)
Start my first year racing as cat 5
upgrade to cat 3 by May
Finish season as a cat 2.

Pretty ambitious, I know, but I have a knack for obsessing.

Upgrade to Cat 3. Win at least one race, either collegiate or USAC.

Help my team win the conference championship. If I come out like a beast, I might even upgrade to A and go to the national championships to help there.

Hit 300 watts for an hour (4.1 w/kg FTP). Current FTP is 285, based on several 20m tests.
Hit 1300 watts for 5s. Current peak 5s is 1180.
Cat up to 3 before leaving to study abroad in England in August.

I was thinking about this earlier today and I have one goal. I want another Velo-Promo t-shirt. That means top 6 in one of their races in norcal. Anything else is gravy

Hopefully you don't plan on doing Tour of the Gila. I don't want to have to race against you

Average 18 mph for 1 hr ( not there yet but close).
Enter in a race ( don't care - time trial, road race)
Complete a 50 mile ride.
