Upgrade turnaround time
Currently Cat 5. But after this weekend will have more than enough points from mass starts to move up to Cat 4. Late Feb I have a race as a Cat 5 (signed up a long time ago online) and I've also signed up for a race the next week....as a Cat 4. Is a week enough turn around time on the upgrade? I have a feeling that its not enough time...when I signed up for these races I didnt have a calendar in front of me

You should be fine. I assume by points you mean "number of mass start races." Is the race in Feb Cat 5 only or is it 4/5 combined? If combined, I'd go ahead & upgrade after this weekend. Regardless, you should have enough time to sneak in the upgrade & print out an authorization to ride.

points = mass starts
Feb race = cat 5 only
but it seems from the responses things should be OK.

My Cat 4 upgrade was denied within the hour when I tried last season (training races don't count anymore in WSBA)...
so when it's time to finally upgrade (next month) I'm hoping it'll be as quick.

This time of year our rep is doing 1-4 day turnarounds....later in the year it starts to get longer due to the amount of requests are higher.

Usually within a week but it is up to your rep.
Contact the promoter of anything you have already signed up for and ask what they want you to do. Most will just move you into the 4's field. If there is no other field you can race in then you're SOL. They can't let you race in a field you are not licensed for.

The district rep here is also one of the main race promoters... he'll usually grant upgrades at races on the spot and give you the sticker to put on your license. Not sure if that is also the case where you're at, but thought I'd mention it.

If you haven't received an email or a sticker, take a print out of your races to the head official at the race, explain the sitch, and then have him/her talk to the race promoter.
