Friends birthday, karaoke night. Buddy did some real metal, I just did Disturbed Down with the Sickness that everyone knows. Except that aparantly most people didn't know that screaming part and were utterly shocked, and also I still have a terribly sore throat a few hours later.

I just watched "Miles Ahead" on DVD because I couldn't get to a local theater the one week it was playing locally.
A more than decent movie, but the music is awesome.

This is by far my favorite song right now. Music video is a bit much, but damn I love some good trance.

Sweet, I may have to check it out. I have a bit of an aversion to bio-pics, esp. related to something I'm a big fan of. I've heard from multiple sources that it wasn't crappy so maybe I'll see it.

She's playing in Lake Charles this month at one of the casinos. I'm thinking about going, but a) I hate casinos and b) there will be a bunch of old, gray-haired folks there.
Oh, wait...
I remember when that album came out ('75?). The reaction was "Holy <insert preferred expletive>, those girls kick ass!" It's still a great album.

Just found out a few weeks ago that Rubblebucket exists. Been listening to them almost exclusively since then, and today I discovered they will be at The Independent on May 17. I am so there.

Musicianship doesn't have to be "good" for me to like it - I listen to quite a bit of rap, hip-hop and top-40 pop music when out or driving. It's supposed to be fun.
I'll let you know that I have a quite refined taste in cheesy pop from the 80's and early 90's - from the "old school" radio station. Stuff that grew our of soul and R&B:

I've got pretty eclectic tastes in music. I've got stuff that ranges from pre-WWII Édith Piaf and Maurice Chevalier to the latest Red Hot Chili Peppers album, with a smattering of classical stuff and concentrations in classic rock, blues, bluegrass (which I used to play) and a growing selection of jazz; I also like female country singers who tend to reference older country stuff. FWIW, the last thing played in my iTunes library was Mendelssohn: String Octet In E Flat, Op. 20.
I'm going to be screwed when my 160 gig iPod Classic dies. I don't know how to move all that music to my car otherwise.

Ya, most people have a very eclectic taste in music, which is why I hate the question: "What kind of music do you listen to?" Instead, I like to ask people: "What kind of music do you mainly listen to "
@revchuck I used to own a vast library of music until my laptop died towards the end of college. Due to the availability of music online I don't feel a need to own much any more. About 25-33% of my listening is jazz88 anyway, a great local public station in San Diego. I have my favorite DJ's and programs. I do have a small vinyl collection, however.
In other news, I have a new Chopin waltz that I'd like to learn. If I learn this one it will be the third posthumous Chopin that I can play:

Here is a favorite artist of mine who, unfortunately, passed away just a few short months ago. The phenomenal guitarist and composer, Roland Dyens:

Goin to see this old late 70s punk band tomorrow. Not a huge fan but the venue is 2 blocks away and I've heard their stuff. The Avengers only released one EP, then a few compilation albums of old recordings, some new stuff with different band members later. One guy who plays in The Plus Ones is turning 40 so it's his birthday show with the plus ones and the avengers. Should be fun. Should feel out of place amongst a bunch of older folks who know all the songs lol

Hey Jefferson is pretty fun to listen to. My boss is probably one of Jorma's and Hot Tunas biggest fans. His Hot Tuna poster has been in the office, and he traveled to Hawaii for some multi-day guitar workshop with Jorma.

I have a good friend I met in HS (one of two I'm still friends with) who plays classical guitar. This is one of my favorites that he would play:

Hi TMonk. Thanks for posting the video. That's a nice piece. There is a ton of really great Latin American music out there written for guitar, for sure. If you liked what you posted, I think you will like this piece. Not too long ago, I actually got a chance to hear this guitarist in southern California:
