USAC upgrade and race registration timing question
I'm waiting for confirmation of my 5->4 upgrade, and in the meantime I'm not sure how far in to the future I should assume I'm still a 5.
For example, if I register for races this weekend as a 5, but then get my upgrade, I guess it won't matter if I still race as a 5? Sure as hell no one's gonna accuse me of sandbagging.
What about races that are months out - do promoters/bikereg.com do any automatic checking on your license #, to make sure you're really in the category you've registered for? Or do they save that for day-of?
I don't know what I'm worried about, I guess I'm just impatient for the upgrade and I don't know why it's taking so long to go through .

I don't think they even save that for day-of. I heard some guy signed up for a cat 5 and ended up racing in the cat 3 or something. He got dropped.

Use your best judgment to sign up for the race of the category you *think* you'll be. If your status changes, email the promoter/organizer and tell them your story. They'll do their best to accommodate you.
