Helmet cam video from last weeks race

Hey guys,

This is a video of our seasons first race (GP St-Martine) up in the Montreal area.
This is the Master A (Maitres A) race which is 6 laps or 84km's.
The race is flat and fast (avg speed was 41 km/h) and there were 150 people at the start!
There were a bunch of new racers who were very sketchy and they were braking all over the place and causing people to go off on the sides. I was pushed off twice. I only heard one crash (behind me).

Our team is Nativo Concept and we are wearing white, red and black kit.
You can see me pass the camera bike at the end in the sprint (I'm # 614 on a black Tarmac pro on the left of your screen).
One of our team mates placed 6th and the rest of us all finished in the peleton with the "same time" about 42 seconds back from the lead group.
P.S. The guy who has his derailleur busted at the end is my team mate. Cost him a Sram Red!

Enjoy!

If only I wasn't so far away in quebec... Rimouski is like 500 kms from montreal... it looks like the community is much bigger over there I could learn a lot from guys like you, BTW nice video!

It was the biggest Master A field I have seen so far.
Tomorrow is the Brossard Crit but they are calling for rain so I may skip...1.8km loop in the rain on slick city streets is just asking for a crash!
Rimouski is FAR from Montreal...do you do any of the Quebec races or Charlevoix?

P.S. I'm not the camera man..I'm in the peleton and pass him in the sprint. The guys is pretty strong though.

1) the OP is not the camera man, as he stated.
2) Really? You try fighting for a wheel that close to the gutter going that fast in the middle of a race. It's not as easy as it looks.

There was a lot of the pushing around. It was the first time I have ever come up on people and put my hand on their side or hip to make sure they would not take me out. I yelled once too (stop freaking braking!!!!!!).
The race had one break that stuck with 12 guys that later dropped down to 8 riders. That's the way it finished...8 in front and 140 in the back!

you need to quit while you are ahead. really.

especially considering some of the devastating things that have happened in crashes to some people on this board of late.

just don't say anything.

OP, thanks for the link! Looks like an exciting race.

I can't believe there was a car on the road on the 5th or 6th lap. It came up on the left at the start of the lap.

It doesn't change the fact that you were still being incredibly crass.

Now if you don't have anything of value to add, just stfu. This is not the forum for trolling.

No I'm not racing or anything yet I've taken up cycling last year and got a cyclocross bike, though I use it like a Road bike and well I don't even know anyone else in my town who's into cycling really...

lol, but what I replied, and deleted, was that it was an obvious joke, and since they overreacted sooo much, I said some more crazy things to edge them on. Talk about being sensitive.

An obvious joke to one person is an idiotic comment to someone else. Without context, knowing the person talking, seeing their face and listening to their tone, the latter is a far more likely interpretation.
