Kent Lofton actually killed a duck on that course a few years ago.

We used to have a large number of Muscovy ducks on campus back in the early to mid-1980's. After that we had a large influx of grad students from the PRC. It has been years since I have seen a Muscovy duck on campus. I'm not sayin', but I'm just sayin'.

So I asked for details..here's the account from Kent:

We rode through them , I plowed right into one, ran over him at the lower part of his neck , just above his shoulder . I kept the bike upright and square , the duck didn't make it . Bystanders removed the duck , and on subsequent laps apeared to be attempting to revive the animal . Black feathers remained on the course for a couple of hours ! I placed second in the race ," the duck didn't make it" !

You better show up or people will start spreading gossip about your great TT time last weekend.

(It's a joke. Well, it is a poor one and in bad taste, but it's still a joke.)

I'll be happy to share the power file with anyone who wants it. There's nothing special about averaging 300w for 55 minutes, especially when 10 days before I averaged 314w for 50 (with a HR of 180).

What is impressive is that my average HR was 189 (that's average, with 22 minutes above 191). I only held it at 300w because I knew I could do more than what I was pumping out when my HR was in my normal TT range. That humidity wrecked me.

No ducks died today. I felt like a dead duck by the end of the 4s race, though. Attached power graph shows why it's a bad idea to do a crit with a hill when you're currently weighing in at a less-than-svelte 192:

Check http://www.youtube.com/user/genettico in the next few days, I am pretty sure he took videos of a few races.
