Roller training sessions
Anybody got any tips for training sessions on rollers? How can you get the most out of your time on them? Right now I just ride them for recovery sessions, hop on for half an hour or an hour and spin fairly easy. The times I've wanted to go a bit harder I've listened to some heavy metal and varied my pace a bit depending on the music. But are there any ideas how to get the greatest training benefit on them? I just want some ideas for next off season, when I'll use them more. I don't have a turbo BTW, and no space nor inclination to get one.

last i checked, it's almost summer, or does cambridge have a micro-climate?

I've been reading about trainers and looking at getting rollers. Some reading suggests that 1km on the trainer can be worth 2 on the road, due to no lights, no drafting and no coasting.
The idea I think is to plan in some form of interval training, so that a 1/2 - 1 hour can give you a big bang for your time. I've started on indoor trainers with intervals, but not sure of how it is different to rollers (or if it is). First step - have a goal. Once you have a goal, you can set up a plan - individually, or with help on the Internets, books, software or a coach (having someone to assist and ask questions off is well worth the money - I am finding it helping with inspiration and focusing on the right areas during our winter here). |

Pick any of the structured interval workouts in the included link.
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ut-recipe-book Use a fan to cool you off, use a towel under your rollers to add more resistance (cheap-o style). |

That makes absolutely no sense for several different reasons.

The day any of you go 1km on a trainer, be sure to let me know. I'll alert the media.
