How many days/weeks does it take to receive your USA cycling license?

What is the time frame to get your cycling license?

umd 07-27-10 01:08 AM

Should just be a few days to receive the plastic, but you can always just print out an authorization to ride.

How long did it take to get your license, umd?

umd 07-27-10 01:11 AM

I didn't count the days. Maybe a week or so. Why does it matter?

Sincitycycler 07-27-10 01:21 AM

Oh I just want to make sure it's not like getting a passport, which takes 4-6 weeks- sorry I've never had a license. The reason I'm asking is that I want to try my hand in a 45+Masters cat in September, and a one day-license doesn't qualify.

Essentially it's immediate, as umd said. Pay your money, print an authorization to ride, and you're good to go.

When I promoted a race earlier this season the USAC sent me forms for people to purchase annual licenses on site as well as one-day. This may not be completely on-topic, but it may be relevant in some way.

should we expect a noon update later?

a 50+ year old cat 5?

umd 07-27-10 08:33 AM

Unfortunately it is very likely that you won't be able to do that race. One-day licenses are only cat 5, and masters races unless they specify otherwise are usually anything but cat 5. Requiring an annual license almost certainly means no cat 5s. Also if you want to do the 45+ because you figure old people are slower than the young cat 5s, I think you will quickly find that experience trumps youth. Man up and do the cat 5 race.
