Anyone racing Brentwood Grand Prix?
Selfless team plug since it's our race but who's in? New course this year. Should be great fun

I won't be racing it (those 180-deg corners were killer on me last year! Sprints every 45-50 secs!). But I didn't know it was a new course. I may come watch if my schedule allows.

I'll be there. I've never done it before but everyone seems to be excited about the new course.

Hi,
I'll be there trying to keep up with the 45+ Masters. Will probably have a few teammates too.

Hi,
That race sucked for me and (I assume) for a number of others who lined up for the Master 45+ race. I lasted only 10 minutes out of 55 minutes and too much of that time was in Z4 (after downloading my data). If I'd had a chance to get to know the course before the race I may have been able to hang in but trying to figure out lines through the corners and trying to figure out where I could recover a little was too much for this old guy.
My only solace is that I was far from being alone and I last longer than many who dropped. Misery loves company. I had fleeting thoughts of doing the Cat 3 or Masters 35+ races but I came to my senses before I dropped more entry money.
Really, my worst race of the year and my 3rd DNF.

I was dropped like a hot potato in the CAT 4 race. Lasted 30 minutes or so. Race was stupid fast. Felt bad for the Pro, 1, 2 field with Dave Z. and several of the others putting a hurtin on. Awesome race overall though.

It was even stupid when the guys at the front decided to do a race pace on a neutral lap at CAT 4. So we made the world record for a neutral lap.

It was super hard even trying to sit in. the first 20 minutes was 275AP/335NP (145 lbs) and the whole race was 308NP for 75 minutes.

But this is gonna happen almost every time there is a neutral/warm-up lap. Especially on big races: everyone wants to start at the front, so they stand a better chance. So they're gonna sprint around the course to get to the line first. At Barry Wolfe, I just sat on the line while everyone else sprinted a lap. (Didn't help as I crashed on 2nd lap. C'est la vie.) For next year: don't do it. Racers can always check out the course beforehand, even if not allowed on it (sidewalks, anyone?).

My teammate and I tried that one year at Barrio Logan. We already knew the course so we just sat on the start/finish. After a minute or so Ralph got on the mic and called us out and said the lap was mandatory. We had to gun it to get around the course so we could start breathlessly at the back of the pack.

Yeah, Bahati won. It felt like DZ was on the front drilling it for laps at a time. The new course was very technical and it had a couple of short uphill punches and a long cross wind rise that made it really hard. I held on until 4 laps to go when someone washed out in front of me and I had to slam on the brakes. I knew I didn't have a shot at getting back on so instead of chasing I just pulled out to watch the finish. It was really high attrition. The front group was maybe 30-40 with ~100 starters.

Damn! Pretty heavy hitting! Glad to hear you made it out of the muck ok.
