I'm toast. That's some of the hardest work I have ever done but definitely beneficial.

Pictures... I ain't got much in the way of pictures.

My DroidX, essentially brand new, stopped taking pictures and videos on the drive down from the Vail area to Vegas. Frig.

Because I was carrying two laptops and a bike, I decided to leave behind my regular camera and regular video camera. I brought my ContourHD helmet cam, and used it on the Lake Mead ride as well as in a "blind" sense on the last day of the show. "Blind" because I can't check the video I shot until I download the video. Since I haven't downloaded it yet, I don't know if it worked.

I also had to act somewhat professionally during the show, so I couldn't go around taking pictures everywhere. I was scrambling from one appointment to another, running later and later, until my lateness caused me to miss an encounter with absolute greatness.

Yes, I was late for an appointment with Eddy Merckx, although I didn't know he would be there. And I missed him.

So that was a bummer.

I also missed doing bits I wanted to do with a lot of companies, even whole genres of companies.

However, I got to speak to some interesting folks. Famous even. And that helped make it all worthwhile.

An incredible, incredible experience.

My pick for hot product of the show: 4iiii (pronounced "four eyes").

An LED based heads up display unit that mounts on your glasses. Ant+. Light, simple, programmable. Uses different color LEDs to indicate "range" of parameter - power, speed, heart rate, cadence, etc. You can set parameters however you want. For a TT, you may set power at 250 for green (FTP). Then you can have yellow for +10w, -10w. Orange for +20w, -20w (going left and right, so you don't get + and - mixed up). Now you have a unit that gives you a visual indication of level of effort.

Maybe you want to keep at 100 rpm. You can do +/- 5 rpm increments (as an example) for the lights.

It's kind of like the "LED" lights at the top of the steering wheel in Formula 1 driving games. If the redline is 18,000 rpm, the green lights start lighting up at 15,000 (for example). Ever 500 rpm another green light goes on. At 17,000 yellow lights start to blink on. And at 18,000 the redlight blinks.

The LED increments get programed by you when you're on a computer.

If you want to have the actual number, you tap the piece on the stem of the glasses and the gizmo tells you. "Speed: 24 miles and hour." "Power: 253 watts." So on and so forth.

Double tap to go to the next parameter. Tap tap. "Cadence, 92 rpm".

Best part?

For just the unit (you need sender pieces like Ant+ HR strap, Ant+ speed/cadence/power units), you need to spend about $150. With the sender units you can basically double the price (crank, HR, speed sensor). If you want, you should be able to wear two, so each side of your glasses has one display.

No numbers displayed because they don't want you going cross-eyed looking at your lens. The whole idea was to eliminate the need to look down at a bar mounted or wrist watch computer.

Download data and view in standard apps.

More coverage info to follow. I'll probably give links rather than direct info, but my personal pick for best product is what I list above.

My quick takeaways:

- The industry c-x race was BRUTAL. Brutal.
- There is no actual air anywhere in Las Vegas.
- Electric bike are everywhere. Coming soon to a path / street near you. Guaranteed.
- Helmets are a good idea, unless you are doing ramp tricks on a BMX bike.
- What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, unless you got one of the free tats in the chrome booth.
- Air guitar, free beer and free schwag from Yakima / Camelback was sweeeeet!
- The demo days is getting bigger than the show.
- Demo'ing bikes is not so much fun in 100 degrees with 40 mph winds.
- Ellsworth has AMAZING road and C-X bikes now.
- China makes everything. Their pavillion was larger than SRAM...
- SRAM is huge now. They may in fact be bigger than the sun pretty soon.
- The Shimano guys are cool and give great industry deals. Bars and stems now.
- Everybody makes a nice bar and stem. But its hard to find a deep drop anymore. Thanks Ritchey!
- NiteRider is another great company that treat the industry well and hasn't forgotten its roots.
- When hooking up for a casual morning jog with other industry folks. Take a moment to ensure that your future running partner isn't a nationally ranked Ironman racer. <ouch>
- Gary Fisher is alive and still dresses funny, but has a cool mustache.
- It is possible to live on free sample of powerbars, gels and gu type stuff for three days as witnessed by the hundreds of shop rats doing so.

I shopped it all and came home with a new Look bike for myself. Absolute sex.

Hope this was helpful.

My secret project that I couldn't talk about before Interbike. Be kind lol.

http://www.interbike.tv/

If the interviewer ain't Caucasian, it's me. TheFredCast (David) has been doing this for a while. Me, not so long.

Heh. Just realized they spelled my last name wrong.

If I don't exude enthusiasm let me know. I hope some of the later interviews get a bit better. I have a feeling a couple won't make the cut.

I must have seen you a dozen times in the press box. I thought you looked familiar, but couldn't place from where and was too busy to investigate further. Bummer!

Where are all the interviews you guys were doing with the green screen next to the media box? You had some interesting people there, I'm sure some great content came out of them (though the lighting was not super awesome )

HAHAHA - I'm pretty sure I passed you a few times.

Used to listen to the Fredcast religiously until David moved from Cali - then his updates became sporadic and I lost time to listen.

I wasn't involved in the green screen area (which kind of looked shabby in real, unfortunately). In fact, now that you mention it, all that video is gone. I don't know where it went, but I'll ask.

I roved with a camera guy, and David roved with another one. There was a guy with a cap and ponytail (Kevin) who scheduled the two of us and kept us to our schedules.

Most of the time I felt kind of stressed, in a good way. I guess it's like the feeling as I'm looking at 2 to go and I'm still buried in the field.

I actually wouldn't recognize you without your kit since I don't know who you really are. I probably bumped into you and didn't even know it.

Psimet, on the other hand... his mug is right there.

Ha yeah I never put non-kit photos up. Like I said, you looked really really familiar but I couldn't place from where - probably same issue; I've seen photos of you in kit but not in street clothes.

Dinner with Rob and Co., I'm on the right:

MMMMMmmmmmm still thinking about that sushi and could use another Sapporo. Actually...I gained way too much weight last week. No beer for at least a week. Bears Packers are on too.....I hear that's a big thing to those guys who like playing with balls. Footballs.

Some of the more interesting interbike.tv things:

movmoda (it's there now)
4iiii (not there)

They skipped some of the cool stuff from ones already up - Efficient Velo Tools, GoPro. I think Mad Fiber will be nixed but maybe not.
