Can anyone recommend an accurate, moderately priced scale. I don't need any bells or whistles like fat percentage data. In fact, I would prefer non-electronic if possible.

I would not go analog and the BF numbers, while not exact, are said to be a good indication of changes over time. Go with anything from Tanita they can be had for around 30 dollars and testing showed that it was one of the most accurate brands.

i was a gym rat from 18-28.... spent many years going form 145 when I graduated high school to 245ish... did a mix of bodybuilding and powerlifting
took allot of wrong advice along the way like.... don't worry about staying lean just eat eat eat and once you get enough muscle the weight will melt off
at 26 I was flipping through TV and saw a show called dropin.... it was a mountain bike free rides show and thought it looked like a last so I decided what bike I wanted went to the lbs and they had none but gave me a deal on a different model for the same price that was a bit better spec'd
I joined their club went out on my first ride and was huffing and puffing form the get go... everyone dropped me on the climbs cause I was so heavy but I was strong so I was surprised
over the next few years I moved form there and got a bit more serious about cycling wanted to race and needed to get leaner to do so so I gave up the quest to become a freak and and started lifting more for endurance and cycling more often.
so now Im' 205 with a goal of hitting 190 but a "dream" weight of 185 for this season and I'm' hooked.... bought a road bike in 2008 to train for MTB and now I love road rides

Still at 177 today. 6 hours on the trainer this week with slightly improved eating habits (barring last night) and no progress. Grrrr...

Throw the stick!!!!
Weighed in at 216 today, I'm not going to reach my goal of 190 by the end of next month but my weight is going down so I am still happy. I have lost 44 pounds since 7/4/10, as long as I continue to lose weight the way I have been I will be down to 180 by June or July. I can live with that.
