Not entirely true.

When he was in 1st or 2nd grade he fell off of a swing an broke his arm. He didn't tell anybody. About an hour later it was noticed that he was "protecting" his arm and not letting anyone touch it. He then went to the ER. He can deal with suffering just fine.

When he was 8 he did a 50+ mile ride on his single speed, 20", wide tire bicycle. The part he hated most? Riding past the dairy farm and how bad it smelled.

This past Spring he climbed up on my race bike and said how "cool" it was. My heart soared like an eagle.

There are contra-indications, but it his b'day so I'll not mention them.

Installed Win Home Server on the old HP box. Stupid LOM isn't working. The OS picks up that it's a realtek RTL8169 but it doesn't like any of the drivers I've found for it. Stupid computer.

Gran Turismo 5 is being pressed. Just thought you should know, the delay is almost over.

I'm excited. Got my G27 racing wheel, with H-pattern shifter and clutch pedal, as well as paddle shifters. My racing seat cockpit will be here in a couple weeks, hopefully just before the game. I want to set everything up and have it perfect the first time I play GT5. I've been waiting for this game for 6 years.

Bikes: One brand-less build-up, and a Connondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra Disc. A nicer bike than I need, but it was a good deal, so... ;-)

Writing an app to put the computer in sleep/hibernate mode, then resume.. actually not much code either!

Just 3 function calls and boom it works! I love it when that happens.

For work.

The app I'm testing has had bugs around coming out of sleep/resume - so this will automate the process of resuming from sleeping. Once resumed, we will run tests and see if anything breaks due to the machine state.

This needs to be automated since it will run as part of tests that run automatically in an unattended lab.

I hope by lab you mean one server running a Hypervisor virtualizing everything. So much easier than massive KVMs, and more geek factor as well.

Be honest, Microsoft is writing a malicious power-flicker iphone app to help dispel that "macs don't get viruses myth."

I wouldn't know, I don't have to deal with the lab/hardware directly, luckily.

And considering the company I work for invented (acquired?) the Hypervisor technology, there's a good chance we're using it. =]

Man, I played so much Gran Turismo 3 in college. The thought is giving me the itch to get a racing game. Though, would need to get a current gen console first.

Started learning Ruby/Rails today. As a student I don't have the time to deal with configuring varnish, Apache, mod_wsgi, PostgresSQL and making sure that I have all the proper patches and everything is secured properly, and Heroku takes care of all that incredibly elegantly.

Now if only the language and framework didn't suck...

Dear Geeks,

Do any of you know of any open source or window/MS Sql software for forums? I'm trying to get something started at work to help promote a conference that we run.

Thanks!

Also, was your sentence written using a Markov-chain algorithm?

Everyone knows a blog engine is the new "Hello World!", and a forum is basically a blog with a few more display options...

In all seriousness though, scotch's is as good a suggestion as any.

OK Jen told me to ask in here.

I have a PC running XP. I noticed over the past few weeks that when I run a google search on Firefox, usually when I click on the desired hyperlink I get to the site I want, but sometimes I get sent to a stupid commercial site like "happili.com," which is freaking annoying....to circumvent this I have to highlight/cut/paste the actual http address into the browser window and then I get where I want.

I have avira antivirus and malwarebytes anti-malware running on my computer so I would like to think that I am not infected....but obviously something is doing this.

Any suggestions?

Doug

Yep sounds like malware/adware.

I'd start here: https://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/ (downlnoad the Essentials and whatever else you can)

Another thing that might help is staying away from questionable websites. j/k =]
