licensing question.. I'm a masters rider so UCI elite codes do not Apply??
Hi
This was my first season of racing road and I competed in the lowest Category we have available which are all ability based A through D, I was a a D racer.
This season I want to race outside of my province and specifically in Maine in the lake Auburn road race
so I asked our registrar if I had earned enough points to upgrade to a CAT 4 and was told since I'm a masters rider UCI Elite codes do not apply to me.
I thought for sure there we riders on here over 30 racing in the UCI Elite Cats but maybe it is different in the US
does this make sense ?

Most masters races are not open to Cat5 racers, for example, M35+ cat1-4. Are you doing a UCI race?

what is your UCI license code?
ordinarily you have to race in either M35+, M45+ or M55+. I have seen race promoters allowing Canadians to race below their category simply because they don't understand the UCI codes though.

From what I have heard, since you are in lowest Masters Cat you need to race Cat5 in the US...
Like was stated above Masters 35+, and so on, in the US is Cat4-1...
Once you upgrade then racing Masters in the US is a given....If not you be a sandbagger...

Those are the same codes that apply in Ontario with the exception of the Masters categories. Almost all races use the masters ability categories 1,2 &3. Age is still noted in your code but you rarely race by it (with the exception of provincial championships).

If I were the promoter and I saw RMMA.3 I would find out if he was over 35
if it was RMMA.1 there's no way he'd be allowed in any race but masters or the P12. (if I were the promoter)

seems semi-complicated
I'm 31 turning 32 before the end of December 2011 so I wouldn't be a masters 35+ so unless the promoter objects I'd race in the 5's
guess I'll ask the promoter before I head out to Maine for the race this year see then see how it all plays out after the racing is done

That's your "green card". And we apologize, it should have read "Socialist". Homeland Security has dispensed with geographic designations and switched over to geopolitical designations:
Socialist
Terrorist
Ex-Commie
Commie
Cheap Labor
Private Jet
Oligarch/Big Man
You know, that sort of thing.
OP, drop an email to the rep in the area you are going to be racing, you can get that info off the USA Cycling website. Better to work this stuff out before hand.
