Recovery Ride...

what is the overall pace and tempo of a recovery ride after a hard training effort the day before? what is the primary use of a recovery ride? just a slow spin or should it be a tougher effort? Thanks

As easy as possible such that you dont fall over.

purpose: get blood flowing to your muscles, maintain elasticity/suppleness of tendons, ligaments, etc.

speed: what JB said. I'd add "so slow your ass hurts". If you're in a gear bigger than your 39x19 you're probably going too hard.

duration: 30 minutes is probably sufficient. 60 minutes is maximimum.

I live in Florida, so that's a given. :)
