Any races in Maine in early August?

Sorry for starting a new thread on this. I will happily remove it if it's not the right place.

I'm going to be vacationing in Belgrade Lakes, Maine July 30th through August 6th. I really want to get some racing in while I'm up in that beautiful part of the country. I did a lot of Google searching for possible race calendars, but couldn't find any consistent listings.

Anyone know of any good races in the area?

We vacation in Maine around the same time as you, the first week in August, but we're on the coast. There weren't any races that I can remember. I did a local hammerfest last year with Portland Velo on a Saturday morning. I'll do that one again this year. There is a similar ride during the week out of Auburn.

Not a ton of racing during August. Several decent group rides throughout the summer though.

The Saturday Morning Ride out of Portland is pretty fast but it's short and flat It makes for a great century though--ride down along the coast (probably not from Belgrade, but Brunswick is a great starting location), do the ride, grab a coffee and ride back on some quiet roads. 100 miles easily by 11:30am. Here's an example. The SMR is lap 2. There's also a women's ride that leaves at the same time.

There's a fast group ride out of Portland every Tuesday night. Much longer than the Saturday ride and much more climbing.

My local Tuesday night ride is out of Center Street Cycles in Brunswick. It's never that big but we work pretty hard.

Riding in Maine is great during the summer. The major tourist routes can be busy with traffic but there's an abundance of great quiet roads.

According to the census, Maine is 96.1% white, 1.2% black, 0.6% native american and 1.0% Asian...but I imagine you might find more of the minorities in August, since it's tourist season.

oh crap, I'm not in P&R anymore, am I Toto?
