Looks like Lance is going for #7

I was browsing through trek travel's site, and came across the TdF 2k5 vacation.

http://www.trektravel.com/Trips/05_S...F/Overview.php

It's mentioned in the first paragraph....
since Trek sponsors Lance, I'm assuming they know more than the typical interviewers and cycling magazines and such....just thought you guys might find it interesting...

It’s probably just a marketing ploy - I highly doubt Lance reports to Trek Travel about his 2005 Schedule

considering you can be sued for fraud for making false claims, and being that there are no disclaimers on that page about the whole lance thing, i'm thinking it might be legit..add to that, trek sponsors lance so...i dunno...

oh well, just thought it was interesting

I'm with MB. If Lance doesn't race, Trek Tours should be sued for false claims. It clearly states that Lance is racing and you're along for the journey. They're selling the trip based on that claim and you're out $1000 or have to take a trip you thought was gonna be totally different.

I'm hoping he doesn't race. I'd like to see Cunego take it.

Scratch that, I hope he does race and Cunego beats him.

Thats absurd.
What if he is injured, Stomach virus - theres a lot of things that could keep him from racing.

Gustaf,
It might be absurd, yes...but this is a sue happy country now where you can sue walmart if you slip on a banana peel you didn't notice in front of walmart because you weren't paying attention...

except within reason (such as what you mentioned...injury, disease, etc), i don't think trek or any of its subsidiaries would make the claim stated on the above mentioned site unless they had solid statement from lance or his trainer that he was truly going for #7. it would be too risky in this day and age.

If he races, I hope anybody beats him. At the very least, I hope there's some game GC competition. I don't want to see anybody wrapping up the Tour in the first fifteen stages.

Sure, there are things to keep him from racing, but we're not talking about random acts of god, are we?

The tour company is bordering on fraud because they're claiming he will race. And we're not talking about some random company, it's Trek Tours... that carries weight with a lot of people cuz Lance is sponsored by Trek.

If Lance hasn't committed, then the company shouldn't say he is -- as opposed to might -- going to race. Don't you agree?

Before you scan the yellow pages and pick out an attorney, what makes you think that Lance isn't going to ride the TDF? I mean, why would Discovery go along with any sponsorship plan that didn't include the largest venue in the world for the most marketable athlete in the sport?

I was supporting MB's line of thinking that Lance will race.

A lot of people want Lance to stop but I feel he should keep going until someone beats him. Like Michael Schumacher everone bemoans the fact that he always wins. If you are dominating your sport why quit until someone comes along and beats you? There are some guys, like Jerry Rice, that are playing past their prime but Lance isn't at that point. He may get beat this year or maybe he won't but until it does I hope he continues to ride.

Don't blame Lance for his domanance blame the rest of the field for not stepping up. I hope he rides the TdF in 05 and goes for the Giro and some Classics in 06. There are several young riders that will be the stars in the coming years but let's see them beat the king to earn that stardom.

I hear you about F1. I wasn't even going to watch this year, but I did because I wanted to see how many times Raikonen (sp?) would blow his motor. He even shoved a track official. I was rolling on the floor!

Lance was saying he'd like to do other races. Let's face it, we all know how he can do in the tour-he's been doing exactly the same thing for six years! I think he wants to do one of the other grand tours. Frankly, I'd like to see him in the giro or vuelta, racing against guys he never races against. Last year, he was in italy and climbed the Mortirolo and he said it was the hardest climb he'd ever done in his life. HOwever, the giro is not for time-triallers, as we all know; it's for the climbers. The vuelta usually has at least three time trials, so he'd probably like that better. And he hasn't done any of the spring classics in years- if he didn't have to worry about injuring himself before the tour ,he could do Roubaix or the Ronde. I think the fans would love to see him in those races.
