According an October 29, 2004 article in the Guardian, the Italian investigation of Armstrong for "witness intimidation" Simeoni is keeping Armstrong out of the Giro. Armstrong is afraid they would arrest him while he was there. I still wonder if this could keep Armstrong out of the TDF.

I guess if you can't beat him on the pavement, try the courts.

...ahhh, so thats the latest excuse for not doing the giro!

Click on victories, then click nations.

It seems as though Italy has inherited the heralded title on this forum of "perennial loser".

I'm sure Saiz is glad he can finally win now.

Laggard 11-04-04 07:17 AM

Yeah, all the Italians won this year was the Amstel Gold Race, Fleche Wallone, Liege Bastogne Liege, Tirreno-Adriatico, the Giro, the Olympic gold medal and the Tour of Lombardy.

That ain't nothing.

If you haven't won the TDF, you've won nothing!

orguasch 11-04-04 09:26 AM

won so many race but those races they won are small races, the race that counts the most are out of there reach

Laughing along with Don.

LBL, Tour of Lombardy and Amstel are certainly "small" races. LOL

It's sad that so many racing "fans" have no real knowledge about races and riders.

Hey don't discount the lunicy of the Italian judicial system. After the death of Ayrton Senna (F1 driver) at the San Marino GP the Williams F1 team princaples were inicted for man slaughter. Frank Williams, Patrick Head and Adrian Newey were aquited then two years later they were charged again for the same crime. LA should be scared even if he is cleared.

What was that guysname who won the Giro? I think he's Italian and ranked no.1 in the world. Also, what about that Basso character? Does he count as a good Italian rider? Wow, the classics are "little" bike races eh?

I thought this guy won the Giro, but he's not riding a pimparello?? Could you 'splain to me why he's riding a Cannondale??(Insert emoticon for confused).

I won't ask you his name, since I couldn't suffer the thought of you wrestling with that question.
A clue though: He won some very small one day races in a Div3 level cycling country-Italy.

orguasch 11-04-04 07:28 PM

no I don't have to wrestles with that, Pimparello

orguasch 11-04-04 07:40 PM

TimB 11-05-04 06:12 AM

only part italian but no worries. lets change the subject or it is back to the subject,

**** it's along time since i studied latin

Devil 11-05-04 06:16 AM

What does Latin have to do with this thread, besides the fact that Italian, as a Romance language, is descended from it?

That's ok, my Italian is only as good as babelfish. ;)

dws5b 11-05-04 08:51 AM

LA also said he might not do the Giro because of the media circus the court case is causing. I kind of see his point.

This thread wins todays most pointless thread to read award.

Xtrmyorick 11-05-04 02:37 PM

To get back on topic: Lance should be charged with witness intimidation for what he did. That just wasn't cool.

Well, if you look @ it in the context of sport, it doesn’t seem like an issue to me. Do we arrest football players for threats, or intimidation? They certainly say more intimidating things than LA supposedly did. Where do you draw the line?
