I really doubt anyone was shooting up in that race.
We (and 2 other dads) found this sitting on the surface of the gravel looking fresh and freshly discarded. I believe this was feed 2 and it ended up just behind my car where I parked. By the time I took the video it had been kicked around by dad 1 and 2. It started clean, sitting on top of the pebbles. There were several races and lots of solo riders - and pedestrians. I read posts today some carry for bee stings.

Those are the only facts.
I don't know it was a rider and wasn't for a bee sting, a diabetic spectator or something else, but I made the educated guess it came from a rider and as posted also am guessing it was not an illegal substance (based on location).
All 3 of us dads thought it was put there recently. But its pretty clear to me it had not been there long and with that weather it would have not looked like it did when we saw it had it been through the rain. There was a portable just the other side where I'd think a spectator would use a car or portable. That made me think it was from a rider.

This was the 3rd and final stage at the 17-18 VOS Stage race. Current RR 17-18 National Champ, last year's 15-16 NC and about 5 ex NCs and USA's top junior teams were all in this race. This is long, but it was a fun/chess match types of crits.
LUX teammate Brandon (slow-mo at end wearing leader jersey) was in GC by 6 sec at the start of this race. There were bonus points for 1-3 that could have taken his lead if left to chance.
The goal was to get a break without Clayton (2nd place GC) in it that would take these points (10, 6 and 4) off the table and then Brandon could do a pack finish. So team spent some time chasing down breaks that Clayton made and allowed the other ones to go while chasing down the mini breaks that Clayton got in.

Orange guys burning a lot of gas right off the line, and throughout. Oh to be a junior with energy to burn.

at the start that orange kid also has the needlessly-wobbly jr. sprint elbows/bike throw going. @mattm knows what I mean.

A lot of sketchy riding in that video. Not a big fan of your teammate sitting up so far away from the line, either.

As a thread once titled "Crit racers are smooth" was pointing out. This is a typical competitive junior race IMO and certainly not as crazy as a Euro one.
@Shovelhead this was common. I guess its fun when you aren't paying the bills. The RR technique employed by an advanced team was to take a run from the back up the middle pretty fast. Some riders really expressed concern about this and others thought it was normal. There is a big mix of styles and abilities when you do age based racing (inc. masters) instead of category racing. The RR had about 5 or more riders in the ditches.

how'd you get back to the pit? normally they have just that one pit at the start and it looked like you hit the first corner past it before you stopped for your mechanical/flat/issue.

honest question--just wondering what you can do as you're at the furthest possible point from the pit if you continue on the course.

I was actually about 100m in front of the pit, that was the first corner haha, I just went around the barrier and walked back on the sidewalk. I had just noticed about to go into the turn the tire was soft. If you're on the farthest side, you cut across where you can and get back to the pit in a timely fashion. One time I took too long to get back to the pit because I really was on the other side of the course and they wouldn't put me back in where I was. VOS is a figure 8 course so you're never really too far from the start/finish/pit.

sorry teton, just reread your question. doesn't matter where on the course you flatted, you can get back to the pit any way you can short of riding reverse on the course. they basically gave me 2 laps to get back in, they went by once while changing the wheel and I got back in the next time they came around

Some of my seat cam video from 35+123 Snelling RR

-shows the one time I jumped across to a breakaway which was quickly squelched
-i think fudgy is in some of these clips
-I pretty much watched the whole race....it interesting to watch the shuffling of the pack with people always trying to move up
-I'd say my position was somewhere in first 50 riders 90% of the time. about 30-50 most of the time.
-i'm moving up in some of these clips. I never did it on my own. I just waited for someone to move up, got behind, and got towed to the front. with so much shuffling going on it was easy to find a ride.

-not that familiar with this video editor i have or how to upload videos to 720p or why it is cropped like that. i gave up after a few attempts

Just an idea... Trying this for Chino SR Feb 27-Mar 1 2015 - We'll see how it goes. I will repost in NorCal thread.

I created a folder for the Chico SR video: https://1drv.ms/1D3rfdl
Place any raw video you take (Chico cycling only please) that you want to share / take any video you want to use.

To upload Right click and Create a folder with a unique ID about what race it is and anyone can use it. You'll need a Microsoft Live/OneDrive account to upload. Try it now for practice if you want.

P12 video I will likely use parts from the shared video combined with mine and edit into a complete video of the races or all together.

I am not responsible for any virus you get because someone else puts something up there and you download it - but they did need a Live account so there is a small measure of control.

this technically counts, even if my wife filmed vertically. I can't be sure, so let's say it's from the 35s race where I did well.

And the Crit. Let it age a bit and it will become HD.Long because riders like to see themselves. No music so we can hear David Towle. Simple because its easier and I have more time to post.

Rad video for sure!

I love how Holloway comes from behind to win the circuit race sprint too (at about 1:00 in).

@Doge another sweet vid.

I forgot about the $1k prime! I was almost positive there was gonna be a huge pileup on that lap but somehow there wasn't.. speed was enough that (luckily) not everyone was fresh enough/far enough up to even think about going for it.
