Strange, it shows up for me. It's a Vimeo video so maybe that has something to do with it.

It look a lot like our San Marcos crit, which is essentially a war of attrition. Riding smart and tactically won't compensate for those repeated efforts. Eventually 80% of the field cracks on the hill in some form and that leaves a small selection of fit riders to contest the finish.

Crybaby Hill is about half as long and twice as steep as the hill at Bethel*. Both are 20-25 seconds long so the effort level is really similar. Lap times are shorter at Bethel so that hill is arguably harder.
But the real difference of course is that everybody at Tulsa Tough is amped and out for glory whereas everybody at Bethel is wondering whether they will be able to knock themselves into race shape by May.
* in both cases counting the false flat section after the hill itself.

Looks super tough! However, you don't need to have hills to train on to get better at climbing them. You can get stronger and leaner on any terrain. In one sense, it's an advantage to have flat roads, it's easier to get a steady workout at whatever power and duration you want.

west coast is the best coast.
Also, not the right thread or anything, but in the 35+ I took 2/5 primes and my take-away was 1 pair of small socks ("sorry, this is all we have!"), and 1 box of rip-van-waffles which was OPEN and half full! 2 primes!

I even started the Garmin & GoPro at the same time, but it didn't seem to help.

Track NC was 1-2 hours drive for our team. So they decided to do the 17-18 team pursuit - with about 50 laps total practice. They certainly could have used some more and I'm not sure beach day was a good idea the day before. Anyway, they ended up 9 sec faster than last year's winning time, and 3 sec slower than our worlds team - who is off to Kazakhstan this week. There are obvious things to fix here, but that takes time and focus. Still interesting (to some I hope).

^ awesome stuff, congrats again on those wins!
My latest vid from the Red Kite crit last weekend; have yet to record anything but me losing..
But one thing that's neat about the GoPro is replaying the exact moment I lost the race... shoulda pedaled harder!! (in this case it happens at 3:00 or so)

Crit racing is easy amirite?
You had about three seconds to make that decision and it cost you a chance at the win. Hell of an effort to save it. Where did you end up?

Ended up 3rd in the field sprint for 11th - but gained a few omnium points on #1 overall due to the prime I won. Either way though, I lost!
