Just went into a burning house a couple streets over. I just happened to drive by right after it started, before the FD or cops got there. Quite the experience. Grandma and young teenage girl got out, possibly a pet or two left in, not sure. Crazy, crazy experience. Total loss, but as long as the people got out, that's an acceptable outcome.

I don't want to blow it out of proportion. It's not like I dragged people out of the place. The teenage girl was in the driveway when I drove up. I did go in. The heat and the blackness were overwhelming. It's hard to describe. I couldn't stay in. After that I went around to the back of the house and found the grandma and helped her to get to the front.

You're a stud Fat Boy. Just because you didn't find G-ma in the house doesn't change the fact that you went through the door to get her.

Now we have stars AND heros in our midst.

Good work, FB.

Finally got access to the Instructor website for the textbook I am using this Fall. Things were delayed because they caught a student posing as me trying to get password protected access.

What do you guys (and girls) think about this? It's about growing up male in this era.

I know I know, but it was just a little hilarious that it happened in the next instant. To be fair, I named my price this time and I was content paying it. They'll be back up and flying this time next year and I have enough in savings to fund a few projects that I'm hoping to do next summer and I should have a little more saved by then as well. I think I have enough saved that I'll invest whatever it is that I'd add to savings otherwise to start building up a portfolio over time.

And what era would that be?

It must be hard being male in today's world... getting paid more for the same position, etc... how do you do it?

(fwiw I watched about 5 secs of the vid so maybe I missed the interesting parts)

Listen to the entire thing and then start blabbing. It has nothing to do with what you're thinking.

I think you have one of these handy.

Do you watch 50 videos/day? Or are you the 100 videos guy?

I can put stock in what is being said in the article. My boys are young but we are already trying to address some of these issues before they turn into problems. For a very simple example...greeting everyone when you enter someone's house. NFW that we will we allow our boys (2 & 5) to shirk that responsibility. Our kids usually handle such situations with ease while many of our neighbor's kids cower. It drives my wife and I nuts that the parents won't do something about it. It seems trivial but we don't agree. The tip of the iceberg has to begin somewhere.

FWIW, my wife grew up in a very tight community. Think of the term 'best friends' and insert 'families' in place of friends. That's how she grew up. Dozens of families are tied tightly through many generations. It's impressive....something I did not grow up with at all....something that I want to make sure my kids appreciate.

My parents, even though recently divorced, are still friends with the kids they grew up with. A few of them I refer to as Aunt and Uncle, though there are no relations. I feel like I was very much raised by a village, and if I mouthed off any number of people near me at the time would handle it. It was tough
