I think the agent is normally working for the seller.

We offer 10% below asking, settled for 5% below. When we priced the house we moved from it was kind of the same. The first house where we made that offer the sellers said that they were insulted. Their house didn't sell for 3 or 4 years after that. I don't know what that cost in the double mortgage (they moved away) but at $8k tax/year and (I'm guessing on the low end) $2k mortgage per month (we'd have been in the $3-3.5k range), I think they'd have easily lost the $22.5k they'd have lost off their selling price (at 5%).

We had a great selling experience ourselves though - we actually went out to dinner with the buyers a few times after we sold the house, and they showed us around twice after they did some work in it. We believed in our house 100%, were totally honest, and so felt comfortable seeing the people afterward. The only bad part is the market tanked after the purchase so the house is down 25% in Zillow value.

yeah, I gave you the short of the story...there was a time I had to say things to our realtor like "wtf are you talking about"..."is this a ****in joke?"..."do you have any idea what youre doing?" Of course this was in 06 when every ***** was a realtor.

and I did end up firing her. She was a friggin moran.

If I do up my 2012 bike w/ white hoods, saddle, & cables, am I only allowed to ride it as an indoor trainer until next memorial day?

Mr. Clean Orange.

Realtors. I've done the FSBO thing twice, once on the buying end. It's not for everyone or for every situation or market, but it does work.

Sat on the highway for 2hrs in my car. At 1am this morning two tractor trailers ran into each other and burst into flames. One guy died because of it. They diverted traffic off the highway onto rural roads to go around it.

Guess I should watch local news more often.

The guy at work that I confronted about his "practices" here at work (dumpster incident), well his wife called. I thought it was important. I know that if there's something going on then I'll call my wife or vice versa. I told her he would be a minute.

"Oh, maybe you can help me. How do you spell Monticello?"

She's their kids' home school teacher (although the fact that the kids babysat all day and gave the money to the parents somehow didn't affect their home schooling, yet they never got their GEDs - one never did, the daughter went and got it herself - and the father/co-worker defends home schooling as much better than the brainwashing that occurs in public schools).

Now she's teaching the grandkids at home. There should be a law against this.

I was recently thinking about home schooling. My son is now in Kindergarten and I was thinking, "Oh, we could save some money if he just stayed home and I taught him if I was working the wheel business full time." then it dawned on me how woefully un-prepared he would be or how much he wouldn't actually learn simply from the interactions he has....

Not saying home schooling is impossible.....just saying there is no way in hell I would consider myself even remotely capable of teaching my son....and I'm not exactly an idiot.

Ya I feel like alot of the value of public education isn't intellectual or academic, it's social.
