I lost two pounds on the Cayman Vacation Diet. Eat lots of fish and salads, drink lots of Havana Club Rum and Coke Zeroes, run 4 miles every morning, hike/swim/dive for at least 3 hours a day in the afternoon. I should trademark it and make an infomercial.
I highly recommend it.

and if you lose weight on vacation, you did it wrong. just sayin'.

before our recent trip to the Appalachian Trail, people who are experienced hikers were telling me how hard it was going to be and how I was gonna lose a few pounds bla bla bla...I came back with an extra 4 lbs. It was tough on the legs but not serious cardio like Im use to...
not to mention I never stopped eating during the entire 55 mi hike.

I totally did not read into that.
As for switching team, that's a no-go. Sorry, fellas.

I hate July in Iowa. There is almost no racing because of RAGBRAI. All I want to do is race and I had to drive 4+ hours to do Tour of Kansas City two weekends ago and the mountain bike race I was going to do last weekend got rained out. If I don't race soon I think I'm going to go insane.
Luckily the State Championship crit is Saturday on my favorite course. I won it last year as a 4, but I think it might be a little harder in the 1/2 field. I'm happy with how my training is coming along so I'm looking to podium this weekend. Then an 82 mile RR on Sunday. I can't wait.

Y'all pray for me to get some balls. I have to make a real, tough decision very soon. It may be the end of my marriage but I have to try and do something.

Ambush successful. Not sure how successful at this point, but Vail/BC might not sting so bad next year. It was a good conversation, and it really reaffirms my desire to help lead this company out of our valley into the next peak. I like working here and I like the work here. I just hope we can turn it around before the next round of layoffs (late winter if it gets that bad?)

Thanks!
gnome, I hope all is well with the latest offshore quake that happened tomorrow.
It's tomorrow there, right?
my home's fine. my bikes are fine. more importantly my fiance and our families are fine. it is a nasty one here. death toll currently stands at 113. 200 odd missing. severe infrastructure damage. we're having to boil drinking water. up to today 80% of the city didn't even have water.

Congrats and no....
Review was post-poned. Was actually just a long meeting about a project I was working on. Blew doors off. The continued to talk for a while....leaving my boss flabbergasted. "Rob....I....You're.....a puzzle. Here I have this REALLY smart guy who can do some REALLY amazing things and yet I can't even tell if you're interested half the time."
It's like -
"Hey LOOK! Here comes a compliment! Uh-oh....what's this f'n train right behind it doing? RUN! OMFG IT'S TOO LATE!!!!! Oh, wait...I guess that was 2 compliments because he's really complimenting me on my business.....huh.....beer....."

just got an email from the insurance company - they are paying out in full for the equipment damage, and I can keep everything.
The shop that did my estimate wrote off almost everything on the bike because of uncertainty about it's long-term viability.
but the only thing that 100% is messed up are the shifters. I won't race the frame, but after my local calfee carbon expert checks it out, it'll be a great training bike. A carbon copy of the geometry for my next bike, and now I can use the bars/fd/rd/saddle/etc off it... none of them are in bad shape at all - just scuffed, saddle may need some repairs - still...
that's great news.

I know everyone was warned about the 217, but this thread is actually worth looking at.
