chamois = sandpaper.
Zippers on jackets tear out, our team had them for a two year run a few years ago and the guys still complain about them.
They are cheap & have low minimums - those seem to be the high points... seems unfortunate for stuff that you might wear with some frequency.

Have any of you guys ever had heart palpitations?
I had them for the first time ever today. I had just rolled into the parking lot on our way back from the TT series I run, and as I was loading my stuff into the car my heart started racing upwards into the high 160s/low 170s. I felt a little out of breath, and dizzy, so I sat down and drank a bottle of electrolyte stuff. My heart kept racing for another 2 or 3 minutes, then suddenly just dropped by 100bpm down into the 70s. And I don't mean a gradual drop, but rather a sudden drop within a span of 10 seconds.
I had a normal breakfast, and I didn't do the TT itself because we were short volunteers. But I pretty much didn't drink anything except a diet coke, and that included ~30 miles of riding to/from the TT. Most of the riding was moderate (low zone 2), but during the last 10 minutes of the return to the parking lot I took a pretty stout pull just to get a little bit of an effort into my legs.
I've never had anything like this happen to me, and I have to admit it freaked me out a bit. Even though my normal TT HR is in the 180s / 190s, while the palpitations were going on I felt incredibly weak. One of the guys in the parking lot thought it might have been some dehydration or electrolyte imbalance, and that sounds reasonable to me, but I was just wondering if anyone else ever experienced this before?

did the Montrose ride for the first time today, got into the break with the P12's, bridged several gaps, and now my legs are like jelly.

Not me, but my younger brother had something like this. He was a high school (football) center good enough to get small school offers, but went big school to study engineering. Somehow became a marathon runner even though his body type was all wrong for that. Then he developed arrhythmia. They tried ablation several times, but it didn't work. He now has a pacemaker.
Sorry to be so scary about this.

Oh, Andrea tied me on the depth chart today. He had a good ride. Saylor beat Stubb's pr finally too.

I don't know what it's called but I had the symptoms you described regularly until I was about 25 or 30. HR was 240 or so when it was racing, but I felt like I was holding my breath. It didn't drop in 10 seconds, it dropped in about 2 seconds. Like beep-beep-beep-beep-badump..... ba-dump... ba-dump...
It kind of went away. I have some reversed thing on my EKG which flips to the right way at 113 or so bpm. Sometimes hitting that flip HR seems to be correlated with having a racing heart thing. Mine never lasted more than about a minute or two. Last time it happened was last year I think, almost fainted in the kitchen. I think I dashed up from the basement, those kinds of sudden efforts seem to trigger them.

We're (current team) currently using Hincapie, and i love the chamois. Luckily Hincapie offered to match the price of champsys. This was the only reason my team left champsys. A local Junior only team is using verge and all of the juniors swear by the lightness of their kit.

Today I went mtbing for the first time with a guy from work and 2 of his friends. They were late so I did some climbing to warm up and when we started he tried to stay with me until he blew up. After waiting he blew up again and again and then he threw up twice. It starts at 6000 feet and it's steep but he must be 45 pounds lighter than me. In fact, he has no ass. It's like his legs come out of his torso, truly strange looking. Mrs. John said maybe he had a buttectomy.

Keep in mind, I'm anything but normal when it comes to heart issues...
Yes, I have had them. Sometimes I used to wake up with them. It was never very often, make 3-5 times a year. I had 1 or 2 within a month after my surgery, but after OHS, you run into all sorts of crap like that. I haven't had any issues for at least 6 months.
They are scary, no question. I don't think that an isolated case is really all that much to worry about, but if it continues, you may need a surgery (which may or may not mean being paced). And I know what you mean about the HR drop. It goes from fast to normal in about 2-3 beats.
You want really scary, have it go the other way. I had that happen once. I was riding (about 2 months after my surgery) and my HR went from about 125 to maybe 70 and dropping. After a few seconds it picked back up again and I was fine. I have the Garmin data on it. That was _not_ cool.
It wouldn't hurt to talk to you doctor about this and maybe a call to a cardiologist. I think my enlarged heart possibly had something to do with my palpitations and now that it's gone back to normal, I don't have them. If you're riding around with an enlarged left ventricle and don't know it, that could be bad.
Good luck!

We have had Verge for years. We have liked their clothing, and it has steadily improved over the last few years. It also helps that they are a local company here in the Hudson Valley (about 20 miles from Mt. Doom).

Doing a TT with spawn this morning on the tandem. It's a birthday present to myself as I queue up to enter 45+.

I just met some of my neighbors here in Vt
They race Mt Washington on Tandem (thought that was what gsteinb was doing for a sec but that was yesterday I guess). But they just got a 5!! seater bike for themselves and their kids. I didn't get a peak at it unfortunately but it is transported on a custom trailer. They had it tarped the whole time because it was raining.
In other tandem news, while driving up to VT, we spotted a nice looking tandem (I could spot the Brooks saddles and nice hubs probably Wood) with license plate "ALPHUEZ". Pretty cool.
In other hill climb news.. Overend and Juarez take 1-2 punch @ Mt Washington again!!!!
How awesome would it be to be climbing in between 2 legends. I only need like... 40 more watts. Thinking about doing this climb for 2012. Last attempt was canceled race in 07.

Finally home. Getting ready to get on the bike again for the first time in a week. So looking forward to it.
Here's a beach pic of all of us - minus my daughter's boyfriend who took it.
We had a real good time.

Left Ventricular Hypertrophy, I think. But it wasn't severe and my heart was brought back to normal.
I had palpitations and fluttering with my heart. Do not ignore it!

5 seater? That's crazy. Pic?
I'm in maine doing a leg of the Maine TT series. We've talked about riding whiteface but I'd need to modify my gears to pull it off. I pulled a 52 and change solo. Tandem would double that I'm sure if we could even make it.

Easy, medium distance ride done. One week off the bike makes one weak. Ugh!
So worth it though. Now time to train up for a couple of crits before the years end. I need about 6 points to upgrade. Not sure if I can make it happen but I'm going to try.
