Any of you go back to university in your mid thirties? With the current unemployment rate many would consider me a fool for leaving the job I have...
Perhaps I've had too much to think.

Western 1st world civilization has a credential fetish. Excepting some specialty fields, a tremendous amount of progress came from folks considered less than stellar by academia.

I've been RTCed for a bit more than a week: knee pain and then back pain (started after making some fit adjustments and then went into a 60-miler where I pulled for about 70% of it). Knee pain almost all gone; back feels fine when leaning over the bars, but, when I stand up, yowser. Aleve is helping. I was finally able to put a little bit of power down tonight.

So the girl who beat me by less than a minute at the local TT last weekend won the Chronos des Nations.
I figure if I could knock off 25 years and have a sex change, I'd be right in the conversation.

Making a kilometer blurry
trying to figure out what i could use for my real world interlude project (its a presentation that all the students in my math course have to do. We connect math concepts to current events). I'm struggling big time on trying to think of what i can do. Anybody have an idea.
Analyze an example of unacceptable risk in a Credit Default Swap?
Compare campaign contributions with election success rate? (though those two follow each other)

Until about 10 years ago you had to be a 2 or a Masters to race there. So, no, couldn't be me. Although I was way skinnier than I am now so the body could be me.
The guy two in front is a Mengoni rider (city skyline jersey). Could be someone like Charlie Issendorf or I think Wilson Vasquez was very active at that time. Skinnier so maybe someone I don't know about. Issendorf was pretty strong in those days, but I recall him being more built than skinny.
The one to the left of 12 looks like a Coors Light rider but I think it's a knockoff design.
12 himself looks "Saturn" like, but too much black up top.
Cuevas rider (to the right of 44) I think must be a Kissena guy. Don't remember seeing Cuevas on their kits but I never paid attention to the stuff written on it.

Is there a doctor in the house?
I've really backed off my training and riding. A lot! But even when I get on the bike and/or trainer I have nothing to give. No power at all. In no time my legs start to hurt and I'm short of breath. And this is at a low tempo state. Like 80% power. But mentally I'm fine. I look forward to doing it.
I was feeling real bad and had nothing to give on Saturday. The week before I felt the same way. This week it seems to be getting worse. And I'm talking 3 days on the bike. What gives?

for that, you'll also need to undo the countless hours of tunnel testing. Look at her, for once the uci actually needs to tell an athlete to be more aero

Actually, other than the helmet, which is truly horrible, her position is really good. She's also tiny. And strong. Really bleeping strong.

I quit a 19 year career when I turned 40. I did not go back to school. I'd have to have a really good reason to deal with the institutional BS that goes along with "higher education". Higher Ed professionals on BF excepted.

Finally a breakthrough with kid #2.
He's been loving soccer the past few years, working hard & got moved up from travel 'B' to travel 'A'. Feeling a bit anxious & unsettled on the new team. Coach interperets it as not wanting to play or try hard (despite my early season quick mention that he needs to settle in), and gives him much less playing time than league rules say (should be 50% minimum, not 15-20%). With just a few subs, most kids play 90-100%. I'm not happy seeing things spiraling down. Talked to the coach, explained he's not getting enough time or support, and if coach isn't happy about the effort, then he should communicate, because nothing has been said up to this point, and 11 year old kids aren't mind readers. He agrees to let him play more.
Weekend out of town tournament, he plays a decent amount, scores 2 goals in the first game, and makes his penalty shot during the final tie breaker (lost anyway )... overall good so far.
This weekend, coach starts him, he scores a goal in the first half and plays decently overall. Starts 2nd half, scores 2 more goals for a hat-trick. Whew ... things are looking better.
Seems odd I had to get involved & tell the coach what to do, since I'm generally not inclined to meddle from the sidelines.
