You'll adjust. You'll find a way. If everything stays as planned, I will be able to retire at 60, 5.5 years from now. That's pretty exciting.

I am filing paperwork to "retire" in the next few weeks. As far as the State of Florida retirement system is concerned I will be retired. Five more years of working for the State while they pay my pension into an interest bearing account.

I'll be 63 and ready to do full-time consulting in 5 years. And probably making a lot more $'s that way as well.

A little dustup on the local race email list over pushing and shoving in the peloton. Someone posted this in response:

Spoiler alert.

Spoiler

Also, the BF Android app is ********. Don't get it, at least not until they fix it. You can't tell which threads are unread, you can't look at your subscribed threads, when you get on it it thinks you've read every single thread you're subscribed to, so I may have missed stuff from today, pictures take forever to load, the threads don't show date/time of last post, etc. Ridiculous.

Also, congrats on the upgrade. Cat 1 doesn't even compute for me. I can't even hang with the 4s right now.

First day at the new gig. It's nice to be wanted. Nicer still to be able to contribute to the family fisc again.

I'd like to retire today. Too bad I don't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. I make more than 25% less than I did a few years ago and the stupid job keeps getting harder and more frustrating. end whine.

For those of you who ground your flax, what type of grinder do you use?

I'm currently using a busted-up burr grinder that'll soon be exchanged for a better model. Would a blade grinder work?

I get pre-ground, but for other stuff I use a little electric coffee grinder.

for a better workout, you could use this pedal powered grinder:

Thanks for all the kind words everyone.

I'm taking a half day tomorrow/weds and off thurs, then leaving early on friday. Working all those days, but on friday i'll go watch a movie or do something brainless after looking through my formula book.

My scores are 3 pts higher on average than last year. If that holds true, I'm going to be psyched. Last year I did 1 pt below average. I'd be happy with that this year, but I'm aspiring for greatness. I want to be in the top 10% for test takers I know I can make it happen. Psyched.
-------------------------------

In other news, I didn't get as much as I wanted to done today because I saw a cute girl on the train on the way home and asked her out to coffee. I have NEVER been this daring before. It was pretty cool. Haha.

Edit: She said yes. I didn't know how to end it though when I realized I really needed to start working, but was having fun talking to her haha.

Sweet Jeebus, a buddy and I went to the track for the first time last night. Track riding is kick-ass! We did a class at Alkek Velodrome and towards the end, the coach set up a few neutral laps before blowing the whistle for a 5-lap scratch race. I took off from the front, and took my buddy and one more along too. We rotated through, and on the final lap were *just* about to lap the field. Finish sprint came and I'd already pulled off, went up the wall in around turn 3, and exited fast and hard into thew last strait. came in first or second by less than a wheel length.

Had to remind myself at the line not to throw my bike, that'd be bad.

At the very end of the class, the coach spoke to everyone and said that if folks came out twice more, then decided once more, he'd put us in for an upgrade to cat-4. Q&A session, then open track. My buddy and I went out and started drilling it on the track, and after watching us for several laps, the coach flagged us, and said that we should put a star by our names on the roster, he's putting us in for an upgrade immediately!

Yeah, it's cat-4 stuff, but dang, I'd never even been to a velodrome till last night. This is fun!

So I went to this little bar/grill on Friday with my wife. They have over 200 types of beer and one of the best cheeseburgers I have ever eaten. It was a Black Angus burger with pepper jack and sharp cheddar cheese and had spicy pimento cheese melted on it too. It was cooked perfectly. The lettuce was crisp, the tomato was ripe, the bun was real soft. My wife took a bite and gave up on her sandwich. It also came with sweet potato fries.

You'll be fine. It can be weird the first month or two, then you adjust.

I just refinanced my house. Most people refinance to lower their monthly payments, but I swapped a 30-year mortgage for a 15-year. It's going to save me a ton of money over the life of the loan, but it's going to cost me a couple hundred more each month, which will take some getting used to.

So I am sitting in the garage watching the kids play last night and my little girl comes in and says "Daddy, your legs are gross".

Thought I would snap a pic. I think they are ready

I thought the 41 was for posting body parts.

My son used to say "How do you do that ?" when I flexed my fat legs .... it's easy to impress little kids sometimes. Since I can barely beat him at arm wrestling, impressing him is not so easy now.
