Now go do the road race climb - the top of that climb used to be really crappy pavement - kinda more tar than anything.

Thanks

So, the appendix rupture (Feb 6, for those keeping score) was a clear 10 on the pain scale. I don't think it hurt any less than would drilling a 2" hole through my abdomen with a bit made from broken glass, salt and habaneros. Things just don't hurt any worse than that. I very nearly passed out (was laying down already). Thank goodness it only lasted 5 minutes.

Well, the kidney stone hurt that bad. I collapsed once, but stayed conscious. The thing is, the pain lasted 1.5 hours! That's how long it took to go from "Hey, what's that? OUCH!" to the IV-fed dilauded in the ER. I didn't even care about the vomiting -- that felt like cheap sheets on your bed compared to the stone. SUCK!

In other news, IV fed dilauded is man's greatest invention. With the rupture, I could feel the dilauded warm me from my arm to my finger tips to my teeth, all in about 10 seconds. Nearly instant relief. With the stone, I felt the fingers/teeth thing right away, but it still took 5 minutes to kill the stone pain.

Good god WR. I hate to hear that. I take it that things have passed, as it were, and you don't have any lingering effects? My dad had some horrendous ones once, and though I thankfully wasn't around to hear it, apparently the screams of agony were pretty chilling.

Been there on the stones. Crazy how bad they were. It was the first time I had Morphine and was amazed. They gave me a lot of stuff before the morphine and nothing worked. The Morphine.....was...."nice". warm, tingly and I was asleep in a minute or two.

Not out yet, but the bad part is over. Just drinking a lot and dealing with little pains and problems as it moves through. I'm able to work. I nearly went to ride at lunch, but the nausea kicked in about then. I'd ride now if I had time.

The doctor kept a picture of one that I passed last year, he said it was amazing that it didn't hurt. I told him it was like flushing a grain of sand down a sewer pipe...

Mmm morphine. That's the only thing that made last night at all survivable for me. I got a lot of it since taking the vicoden pills just made me hurl.

WR, sorry to hear about all your medical stuff--I know what a 10 feels like and it's no joke. Hope you're in for a stretch of good health now!

Yes sir! I will soon enough...

And yes the asphalt still sucks...More like a patch work of asphalt more then anything...Actually the road out of town has some pretty crappy/dicey sections...riding solo would be one thing, but in a group it'll be interesting...

I wrecked on the railway tracks as there was a huge space between the tracks and pavement so be careful - tore a tendon in my shoulder.

Me, too, after my shoulder surgery I stayed awake hurling all night.

One of the candy-stripers freaked out when she saw the urine bottle was full of green liquid. I had to tell her it wasn't pee.

GA, I'm surprised they weren't rocking some dilauded for you instead of morphine. The nurses were saying it's like a new generation of the same kind of stuff.

Either way, I'm glad they had it for you.

lol, I've been waiting to see mine in the strainer. Radiologist says it's 3mm It's moving around still, a little lower today than yesterday, but not nearly as much pain (ibuprophen is good enough).

I have seen some cool videos and photos of the inside of my throat, including the sliced-up bloody version from yesterday. I would post it, but, if you google 'laryngoscopy' you will understand why that might not be the best idea for this crowd...
