2 weeks until I leave to visit the family for the Holidays - What should I do?

Was considering starting a threshold improvement program(TrainingPeaks pre-packaged program), but feel it would be wasted time to begin a plan for 2 weeks, then be away from my bike for 2 weeks.

Now I'm considering doing longer, more SST rides and waiting till I get back.

What do you guys think? Last season I completed 3 TCTP programs with great results, but realized my ability to maintain a high, steady output was weak, and I need to address that. Did score two victories in crits, although I attribute most of it to strategy more than power.

Thanks for any feedback.

im in the same boat. my training plan starts while i'm away and once i get back that week, i even have a FTP test planned for that saturday. at this point, i've just been riding along aimlessly (and enjoying it) having come off a full CX schedule.

take your bike. jog. do calisthenics. go to the gym. take a spin class. borrow a bike. eat and drink and have fun. all of the above. none of the above.

Shift your plan out a month and try and stay fit.

Remember how doughy Der Kaiser would be in February and March?

As said many times above, don't worry about it. Nothing wrong with starting the vacation in need of some recovery, if you have the time for some volume, but not needed either.

Thanks, my bro-in-law (BF:houston_biker) shot that with his new camera at the Tour de Gruene this year. Full resolution highlights a 2" clear snot-hanger on my nose (suffer factor 100%).
