My goal for 2012 is to help all you fuggers do the best you can...
I'm not racing but can still provide a little insight (I think???)
Been taunted to show up for State TT championships (some believe the course was laid out for me) to lay the smack down but not gonna happen so I'll just stick around and pretend I race...

Genetics have failed me
All I want is to keep the rubber side down and being able to work the next day. In 2011 I've seen some gnarly, almost life-ending crashes which put this racing stuff into perspective.

i want to win san marcos again in front of my family.
this time as a 3.
in general though I just want to have fun and contribute to the success of my teammates/riding buddies. I want a couple of wins but I don't feel like I need to upgrade right away.

I don't have any clearly defined goals right now, unfortunately. My main goal last year was to upgrade and I didn't get quite enough points but I'm going to request it anyway. If it's approved then my goals will be modest, consistent top 10 finishes is probably realistic. If it's not approved then my goal will again be to upgrade asap, including at least one win in the process.

I definitely care less than last year, but not so much less that I don't still want to win some races. And hurt people.

Hi,
1. Stay healthy and upright
2. Continue to have fun (since I don't get paid spend a lot of money to do this)
3. Enter and finish more races than my racing age (55)
4. Finish with the main group at Masters Road Nationals

Hammy,
My opinion? Take away the distractions (ie data, hi tech cr@p, etc), get in touch with your body and soul, learn how to suffer THAT much more and your success will come. When doing crits I would often have no computer as I didn't care how fast i/we were going, i didn't care about anything other than my mental preparation for the suffering I was about to endure or pass out. If it was coming to a group sprint it was ll about hearing that last lap bell and knowing what was coming. My only distraction was a tiny Hello Kitty figurine on my stem to remind me of the family I had at home, all the sacrifices I had made to get to that point and the smile that I would see when I crossed that line - that my friend is why you get the hell outta my way when I sprint for the line - I am a straight up psyco fueled by emotion not data...

fwiw Ive never raced with my pt, and usually no computer at all. As far as results, I wont lose sleep either way (see #2), I'll do my best, and just go hard until I cant.
Other than that I'll just continue to race and learn. (<--- non snarky goal).
