Sea Otter Circuit race profile?
Just wondering if anybody has a race file from the Sea Otter Circuit race/Laguna Seca that you wouldn't mind sharing. I did a quick search on Google, but couldn't find what I'm looking for. Specifically wondering about the distances/elevations for the hills, and where in the loop they're located. I'd like to put some workouts together for it.
Thanks
Thanks

Yeah. I actually just mapped it on ridewithgps. I pretty much got what I was looking for. That site has come a long way since I first used it a couple years ago. It would still be cool to see somebody's race file.

You can map it on MapMyRide. It doesn't really do it justice that way, though. Between turn 6 and the corkscrew it goes to probably a 10% grade, but MMR only shows 5%. Coming down is steeper than that in places, probably 20% for a 100 feet or so. I've ridden the track, but never raced there. I did a workout and it was tough. A race would be brutal.

From what I can figure, it's about a 2.2 mile course. Starts at a hill that goes between 4-6% for 1/10 mi., then about 3/4 mi. later is the next hill @ around 4% for 1/10 mi., which leads into the "big mugamba" which is around 7-9% for 2/10 mi., then the corkscrew. It's then, about 3/4 mi. back to the start.
That should give me enough to work with to build some workouts. I'm not much of a climber, but I did just put the new Tarmac together...with the Quarq (which let's me get rid of the PT rear wheel and just run my Carbone's), my ride is shedding about 4 lbs total. Not that it will make or break the race for me, but it helps, for sure. I'm looking forward to the trip. If nothing else, it's gonna be kickass to ride around Laguna Seca.

You go uphill at around 7 MPH. You go downhill around 57. You need to be able to corner. If you lose the front group on the climb it's hell getting back on if they are riding hard.
That's all you need to know.

It's going to be fun!! I have thousands of laps there in cars and on motos and about dozen laps on bicycle. Hills aren't too bad Turn 5 to T7 is the worst for sure.

they let you ride your bike on the track 1 night a month all yr, last week was for this month. its starts at 5:30 till 7 to 7:30 during the yr. they have imformal races during the summer months, and let me tell you cat1 to cat 5's in the same group and it dosen't take long to spit people out the back. all you have to do is wait for them to come around again and try and hang on
