SwissStop Green or Black?
I have been using Tektro R540 brakes for about a year now, and I wish to improve the stopping power by changing new brake pads. I was thinking getting the SwissStop Green, but I read somewhere that the Green brake pads don't last long, and for training purposes, Black ones would be sufficient for me. So I am debating which one to get now. Anyone have tried them both?

I used both. I found the green ones to be better in the wet and longer lasting. Before I went to a training camp two weeks ago, I installed new black ones just for fun as I had been using the greens all the time, after the 7 days, they were halfway down. It was in the mountains with a lot of braking obviously. Hope this helps.

I was using the Swisstop green last year on my road bike (6700 calipers), and didn't think too much to to them, and have switched to Shimano R55C3 pads, which have given as good, if not better braking, and much longer like; that said, I'm using Swisstop Green V-brake pads on a hybrid, and they havn't had the heavy wear like the road ones did, don't know why.

I've been using SwissStop Green pads for the last couple of years... still on the first set of pads (roughly 10k miles) and they still have plenty of life left. Seems like long enough to me. I do ride in the wet too though majority of riding is in the dry. Lots of climbing, lots of descents. The Greens do seem to have more grip than the Blacks.
They're great pads.

I have both and they've been really good and durable. I have the green on my rain bike and like the improved grip during wet weather.
